I think this is a fair request to make public, though the mods mostly allocate tasks by reading the webdipmod account... i sometimes don't log-in there and respond instead to forum posts of this nature...

As Draug said, emailing the mods usually gets attention for everyone.

On the other hand, i think this kind of issue can be handled publically. Games have been paused when cities have been flooded, or other emergencies... However i would say that this element of the site was designed to operate without mod intervention.

I'd like to know what the community thinks, in general i'd probably support this kind of request (based on global chat) The rules prohibit using pauses as a tactic against other players (effectively counting it as meta-gaming)

What does anyone else think? Also is there any reason to move games toward having a GM (where one person, whether a player in each given game or not) has the power to pause, re-assign players, draw(?), change password, and specifically to invite players to join in the first place...

A position of GM which is available to ALL players? (is offering small reward for organising games completely un-needed and at odds with the mentality/community we're part of?)

Someone requested a pause until Monday, I would say it shoudl wait until the entire world is on Tuesday before considering it and, even then, I would wait until Wednesday. But that's me.

As far as requesting it here, I don't care. I was just pointing out that the official (and theoretically best) way to make *any* mod request is via email. But as long as it isn't a cheating accusation, there is no harm posting it on the forum too.

I would agree about emailing the mod account. I'm online on that account for many of my waking hours (barring class, meals and commutes). And like orathaic said the mods use those emails to allocate tasks amongst themselves, so it's a lot easier to track, etc.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope my request was at least reasonable (I didn't want any unpausing to happen before all parts of the world hit Tuesday). I'll use the e-mail account next time.

Bump orthaic's idea of a GM for games - but I think it should be optional. Not every game needs a GM (e.g., live games, games amongst real life friends) but if I had a group of 10-20 players I knew were good, reliable players, we could choose to create moderated games and simply rotate who GMs which game. You could possibly (and this part is a little hazy as to whether it's a decent idea or an awful one) donate an arbitrary percentage of the total bet pool (say, 10%) to the GM is there was one. It would completely eliminate CDs (you could even change the way the game runs so that if a country NMRs, the turn doesn't progress until the player returns or the GM finds another player), resolve the issues around pauses and make invitational games a whole lot easier. I'd like to hear other people's opinions on the idea.
