There has been alot (more than usual) hostility, ad hominems, condescension, just general douchebaggery lately. I thought maybe humanizing it a bit would help, there was a thread like this in the past and it was a great success.
If a fleet in Edinburgh is support holding a fleet in the Norwegian Sea, and the fleet in the Norwegian Sea is moving to Norway (to counter a possible move to norway) and the fleet in the Norwegian Sea 1) is bounced out of Norway while 2) a fleet attacks the Norwegian Sea with one other supporting unit, will the fleet in Norwegian Sea be dislodged or not? It's 2 vs. 2 in Norwegian Sea, but the fleet there has a move order, which cannot be executed.
Defeated in a game which was won by a later banned player...
... is there any chance to get my bet/points back or what happens with the points the multi player gets? I have to admit that only one player of the game got banned so he might have not cheated in this game. But I'd like to know in general what happens with the finished games in which cheaters were involved...
What virtues or actions could be considered to be in the spirit of sportsmanship, and what against it. Do you have someone who could be nominated to be in one category or other. Braking the rules of the site is not to be considered part of anti-sportsmanship, so only legal actions can be named.
Is it possible to draw a game with a clear stalemate line in which one nation has refused to draw even though the same exact moves have been made by everyone for many turns? And there is clearly no way to break the lines besides an NMR or an attack between the allied powers which has not happened in years and will not happen since it is a WTA.
Personally, I want to keep them non-anon and small enough so that I do play the same players multiple times. The proposal to wrap Premier and A into Premier and both Bs into A with the rest being C has some merit.
Who is going to be the TD this season? If no one wants the job, I'll volunteer if abgemacht will promise to be the tourney mod for this season, having a backup of course should one of his games need the mod intervention...
Hmmm... Then I back out. I finally made A/Premiere and don't want to give that up. But I believe we have had playerds also be TDs in the past. they just let their backups make decisions in games which they could be viewed as having a vested interest. Perhaps co-TDs would work.
^Haha that's funny D33. But seriously, this ain't no Teen Tournament or whatever. This is the like one of the big tournaments, so ideally we need someone who has already played in the Leagues and/or already been a TD. Alderian+Draug should be co-TD's.
Though I haven't been in any tournaments recently I'd be willing to help someone who knows the tournament layout do some of the planning, bracketing... I did play in the 2009-10 TMG Masters so some tourney experience. So basically I'd be willing to either co-TD with someone or I can just watch someone TD so I can TD in the future if the need arises since I don't plan on joining the league at any point. Oh, and you just got muted Diplomat.
Well since I recall the last thread turning into a bitching match you might want to consider having everyone in the league email a suggestion to one person who then puts an idea together and then has the members vote on it.
So here is my deal. I love helping out, but my work has just been overwhelming of late. What I can easily do is the sending of game start emails, updating the tournament webpage periodically, and such. The grunt admin no decision stuff. What I don't really have time for is the decision making side of things. Getting the sign ups organized, dealing with dropouts, and complaints and such. If Draugnar wants to do that part while I do the other part, or he does both, that's fine with me. I currently have access to the tournament webpage and league spreadsheet but not the league email. We can create a new league gmail email easy enough though.
As for TD playing in a league, you can make that work out by having a vice-TD for dealing with issues related to any game the primary TD is in.
As for format, I would prefer the 14 person pool format myself. And still prefer non-anon for league games. I planned on sending a mass email out to the emails I have on the spreadsheet, but as I said, work has been taking up all my time of late.
OK, so we seem to be on non-anon and 14 per league.
Is everyone good with merging: Premiere and A into the Premier league Both Bs into the A League The three Cs plus the top seven who didn't get prompted in D to 2 B Leagues Everyone else into the "Open League" in groups of 14
Promotions to these new leagues should be base don last seasons results and new players brought into the open league.
Next up, the new promotion schedule...
@Alderian - I'll handle the in-game issues and help with the setup if you'll co-TD with me and handle the issues just in my games.
Oh, and I leave it to the community to give a thumbs up or down to me co-TDing with Alderian. If enough people don't trust me to run an honest tourney, I'll step aside.
It's time for the younger players on diplomacy to have their own tournament! Great place to play with Diplomacy players your own age. No offense to the older members of course! If enough people post with intrest I'll set up a tournament.
