To start a rumor...
A "little bird" told me through the "grape vine" that Jacob might have the new i-phone which has access to webdiplomacy, and that he *might* be planning on joining a game or two really soon.

TO MOD : why does this site permit hate literature?!
Can we seriously consider blocking or muting the people who post hate literature here? This is disgusting.

TI find discussions about headgear deeply distressing. Please keep me from seeing things I find offensive - as is your responsibility

And I look like.....
There has been alot (more than usual) hostility, ad hominems, condescension, just general douchebaggery lately. I thought maybe humanizing it a bit would help, there was a thread like this in the past and it was a great success.

Rules question
If a fleet in Edinburgh is support holding a fleet in the Norwegian Sea, and the fleet in the Norwegian Sea is moving to Norway (to counter a possible move to norway) and the fleet in the Norwegian Sea 1) is bounced out of Norway while 2) a fleet attacks the Norwegian Sea with one other supporting unit, will the fleet in Norwegian Sea be dislodged or not? It's 2 vs. 2 in Norwegian Sea, but the fleet there has a move order, which cannot be executed.

Defeated in a game which was won by a later banned player...
... is there any chance to get my bet/points back or what happens with the points the multi player gets? I have to admit that only one player of the game got banned so he might have not cheated in this game. But I'd like to know in general what happens with the finished games in which cheaters were involved...

Sportsmanship in the game of diplomacy
What virtues or actions could be considered to be in the spirit of sportsmanship, and what against it. Do you have someone who could be nominated to be in one category or other. Braking the rules of the site is not to be considered part of anti-sportsmanship, so only legal actions can be named.

Game drawn
Is it possible to draw a game with a clear stalemate line in which one nation has refused to draw even though the same exact moves have been made by everyone for many turns? And there is clearly no way to break the lines besides an NMR or an attack between the allied powers which has not happened in years and will not happen since it is a WTA.

That one mafia posted made me laugh out loud. Sometimes my girlfriend sees me writing in this forum. She can't believe the things we talk about, and she does not see the point (she also does not get the game Diplomacy).

Oh yeah for sure. Every once in a while when I've been sucked into a long stupid debate on these forums I think back to that comic and am able to walk away...for like 10 minutes. Debate is addictive.

About other webcomics, probably the most underated is SMBC (this is my fav one that has come out in the last month, for ease of finding):

Also from XKCD. If you go to wikipedia and click random article to get any article that isn't a stub, and you keep clicking the first link that appears in the main body text of each article (ie. not in brackets) you'll eventually end up at the article for philosophy, no matter which article you started with.

Please tell me in advance if that's going to be a huge waste of my time, because now I have to try it regardless.

...holy crap, it only took about 20 pages to get to "Modern Philosophy" from some random region of France.
ghug (2731 D (B))
20 Oct 11 UTC
There's one more page before you get to the actuall Philosophy page, but yeah, it's pretty cool.

Interestingly, that was known to work for at least a few weeks before the comic came out, and the comic started an edit war over the quantity page.
