What is the point in "Anonymously + Without chat"?
As far as I understand "Diplomacy" game is all about negotiation. But I see many games here with no chat - what is the point?

A diplomat is someone who can tell you to go to hell and make you look forward to the ride.

OK Austria, I have figured your game out...

You don't take risks, you let other people take risks for you. Yes, send Italy and Turkey further West, send Russia further North. If I do fall you will get the lion's share of my SCs....Munich, Warsaw, and Berlin...possibly Kiel as well depending on how things go. All of this at no risk to you.

Here you are, asking England to take a big risk in attacking me, when you have taking no risks in destorying weaker players. You would have England break his agreement with me, but you will not break your agreement with your allies (not yet, at least). It's much better that England breaks his agreement with me because then he can be painted as a traitor, as someone who can't be trusted, someone that needs to be destoryed later. You, on the other hand, will still be revered as a god.

Tell me Austria, would you have the entire board destory me and then have a 6-way draw? Why don't you do as England says, and together we take out Russia and Turkey and have a 5-way draw? Doesn't a 5-way draw garner more points than a 6-way draw? This is a tournament, not a game of pleasantries. This is precisely why England is so frustrated with you right now, because 5 is better than 6. It doesn't make sense at all.

Well, it does make sense. It is because you, Austria, have ulterior motives. I am your biggest threat right now, and once you have me eliminated then you will have a free reign to do whatever you want in SE Europe. Let's say you get 4 of my SCs, 2 a piece for Turkey and Russia, and 4 of Italy's...England and France are busy fighting each other...Austria wins! Turkey probably realizes this, so I don't think I need to illustrate his position, but I do think Italy and Russia are oblivious to the big picture.

Russia, ask yourself, if Austria really just wants a 6-way draw, WHY ARE YOU (and Turkey) ALIVE? It's not because you're a nice guy, it's because Austria is using you, primarily against me. You will die as soon as I fall, particularly if Austria forges an alliance with England which is what he is trying to do.

Italy, look at your pieces, they are completely out of position to take an Austria onslaught. Greece will fall very quickly when Austria wants and there is nothing to defend Venice. You too will fall when I do, particulalry if a Franco-Austrian pact emerges.

You are both the only players other than Austria not to have voted for a draw, but I don't think you realize that you both will die quite quickly after I fall. Both of you, please realize, this is a tournament, and everyone wants to get as many points as possible.
We in the West are committed to a 7-way draw, Austria is not even committed to a 5-way draw. He is not a stupid player, he wants to win this game.

The biggest threat to everyone in this game is Austria right now, Italy and Russia, please join me an alliance to rid Europe of this slime, or to force a 7-way draw. You do not even have to take my word for it. Italy and Russia, ask Austria what he would do after I fall. If he says a 6-way draw he is lying, because a 5-way draw is easily in his grasp right now. He is asking England to take a big risk for a 6-way while he himself is not even taking a minimal risk for a 5-way draw. The balance of power in Europe will fundamentally change if and when I am destroyed, and I fear that Austria will be the main benefactor of my demise. Italy and Russia, look at the game a bit harder, because my demise will be your demise as well.

guy~~

This Time on Philosophy
This is NOT a thread about religion. No affirming Jesus as divine-ergo-correct, we're just comparing philosophies. If you want to argue the miracles are somehow parabolic--ie, that the Bread/Loaves one demonstrates a tenant of his philosophy-fair game, but no arguing on whether or not he "did it." So let's play the Jeffersonian game and just compare arguably the West's two most important philosophic influences--Socrates or Jesus, who has the better life view?

I've recently criticized Barack Obama rather severely. He deserved every letter of it. The alternative? I've said it before and I'll say it again: Jon Huntsman Jr. That's the guy I really hope (for the US at least) that he'll succeed this absolute clown of a President Obama.
