I don't see anything wrong with what EdiBirsan is doing. Just say yes or no for God's sake. You're a damn drama queen Diplomat1824. Every time I log on to this site I see another Diplomat1824 post and it's usually bullshit. Grow up.

I believe EdiBirsan understands the spirit of this game more so than the majority of people on here. More so than the people I've played with anyway. Diplomacy doesn't use dice
and the units and their movements have been simplified for a reason, because the game is about communicating.

I've seen one guy on here involved in eighteen games at once. Eighteen games! How the hell can you communicate effectively with the other players when you have that many games going on? I'd rather play one game as well as I could
than eighteen badly.

I'm playing in two games right now, which means against twelve other people. And out of the twelve I have good communication with one. Is this normal here? I'm having a good day if I get three lines from a player. They act like it's
killing them to type a responce.

Well there are a number of things about this thread that are stupid:

1) Why should outside site communication be banned? How is me emailing someone any different from me sending them a tab message on this site? IF both players find it easier then do it.

2) Diplomat was warned about an innane topic quite recently. He is as good as gone now. This is what he wanted, this is some sort of blaze of glory.

3) Giving out your name means nothing. If I told you mine its not like you could find me, and I don't see why you might. However, Edi is remarkably stubborn about this. For someone who seems otherwise to be intelligent I find this baffling. I think you need to let it go, seriously. Centurian is my name on this site, it betrays my personality and diplomacy style the same as my name does. In fact, the only extra thing you might get from my name is my ethnicity. Assuming that has no meaning for you, why do you care?

4) Phone numbers. Thats a whole new deal. If you ask someone for their phone number that is a little over the top. Diplomat you are dumb for not just respectfully declining but instead making a big deal about it, Edi you are dumb for overstepping the boundaries of an internet game. If diplomat was 14, what do you think his parents might say if you were talking on the phone to him? Why risk diplomatic negotiations by making someone uncomfortable?

5) Daniel-san. On another site...Wow, stop right there. You aren't on another site.

6)People taking things too seriously. Diplomat, that would be aimed at you and your thread, but also Edi that refers to you and diplomacy. Its ok if you love the game, but not everyone does and thus might have boundaries concerning how much it enters their life.

I have reason to believe EdiBirsan, Kestas, and GameMaster are multi-accounting, and GameMaster asked me for my credit card number. Mods, please ban them all.

That said, this is libel and Edi shouldn't have to defend himself against such an accusation as though the accusation carried any weight at all. Simply addressing the situation almost gives it the credence that it's a significant possibility that Edi is some sort of internet stalker.

As someone who has already given Edi my information and am still alive and well and have not had any suspicious charges to my credit card, I can say that the worst that can happen to you if you give Edi your contact information is that he sends you a board to help you start up a Diplomacy community in your area as well as hooking you up with fellow Diplomacy players in your area.

diplomat, if you feel uncomfortable giving your information out, that is fair enough, and in many cases it is the prudent way to go. However, the solution is simple. Just say, "No thanks. I feel uncomfortable giving out my information over the internet." There's no need to bring drama into the equation, let alone slander a very well established player.

With that said, I would say there is no rule against outside communication and it might even be encouraged. I know that I welcome Diplomacy over instant messaging because it's much more effective. The only danger is that you don't allow the relationship you will probably build to turn you to metagaming. It's all well to use as a tool for Diplomacy but don't use the relationship to immediately ally in the next game. Be prepared to stab, and especially be prepared to be stabbed.

But back to the issue at hand. diplomat, you have to understand that you can't keep posting like this. I wouldn't be surprised if Kestas banned you at this point, and I would not be against it. It would be a shame if you're a legitimate player, but I think you're deteriorating the experiences of others on this site. If he does, you're welcome to re-join under a new alias to avoid the flak that comes now by carrying your username, but I would definitely refrain from posting too much in the forum and completely stop starting new threads.

I know dangermouse has responded to this thread already, but for the sake of driving the point home, I'll add another mod's input.

diplomat, you are being ridiculous. I understand if you feel uncomfortable about the questions, however the appropriate response would be to tell Edi that you are uncomfortable and ask him to stop. Since he is not showing any signs of harassing you from the transcript he posted, I don't see this as "internet stalking".

And to address what Daniel-san said, communicating outside the realm of the site is not banned here. In fact if you change your profile settings, you'll find under the comments text box the description "A comment you would like to make in your profile. eg Your AIM username or ICQ number.", which encourages, or at the very least acknowledges, the use of methods of communication outside of the site. That said, I understand having concerns about it, especially coming from another site with different rules. Consider this just a friendly FYI, not a criticism.
