@red - You can't have it both ways. Either you say the rulebook states thus and we must abide by it as you did with "the rules are about convoy paradoxes..." or you say you are playing a different game as you just did. As I clearly indicated in my first post, we don't allow certain things because the would inherently compromise the site. Does that mean we don't quite follow the rules? Yes, but such is life.

But, that is not justification for not following the rules when we are able.

I was just trying to point out that the rules in the old games aren't sufficient for what we are doing here on this site, which leads me to conclude that while not digressing from the letter of the original move, we should definitely digress from the spirit to adapt it to 2012 circumstances.

I realize I'm brand spanking new, but spending (I think) 2 days arguing over this seems really dumb. From the bits I've read it sounds like most people agree on a fundamental level that screenshots of press are frowned upon. Either you think they are against the rules, or you think whoever does it is a scumbag. So develop a (personal) policy to attack anyone who posts screenshots, and it sounds like if you can convince others that someone took a screenshot and posted it they will probably join in on your attack. What's all the arguing about? I have only seen one person that is totally ok with it, that is the one person that did it in the first place.

Posting of outside links are allowed, in general, in anon games. If it is believed that such a link has verified a player's identity, it will be handled on a case by case basis by the mods.

This issue is considered resolved.

Congratulations abge, you just made the work of the mods impossible. Contrary to in-site communications, the content of user-filled URLs can be changed after the fact. You'll never be able to verify that the image you found on the URL when pursuing a cheating accusation is the image that was actually there when the event occurred that provoked the accusation.

Abgemacht has a full history of the internet. I'm sure he can handle that.
