I turned to be ready to fight Turkey, as with France retreating he was my biggest threat. I believe this moment was a turning point. I posed no threat to Turkey whatsoever and the fact that he attacked me in my centres implied to me he was trying for a solo, when it was clear that France had a huge advantage and the inside track. Turkey never retreated and continued to fight over the Ionian Sea, which in my opinion, was the direct cause of he and I being out of position to the extent of not being able to find a stalemate line.
I think my mistake was not being more creative with the southern line. I sh9ould have tried to shift Turkey into TYR and a fleet of mine to TUS to shore things up. I don't know if this would have been possible.
I believe that Turkey taking my moves on ION and my own green centres in TRI and VIE as a sign of attack and the fact that he is trying to pin the game on thes emoves is a good example of scapegoating. He clearly wanted the conflict in this situation, as he had solo ambitions, and now that it did not work out he conveniently attempts to blame me.
A question for him would likely be, how could I have played it any different, and have been left with a better draw opportunity. Turkey's willingness to move through a CDed country and then remove a draw vote did not leave me much faith in him. Fuirther, the fact that he needed to move right to my borders to "help" me deal with France imnpied he was not so much trying to help as selfishly gaining his own position.
Likely, he was bitter about the lepanto attempt and could not let it go, and when I move one turn in an eastward direction, he justified to himself an extremely poorly advised stab.
