Before he got into the whole Nazi apologist stuff, he was simply saying the Nazis were not as bad as the Mongols. He didn't mention anything about communism. He agrees both are bad, but the Mongols were worse.

I for one, can't really compare the two, for the Mongols occupied territory for hundreds of years, while the most the Nazis occupied any foreign territory was for 6 years (Austria)

And actually, I'd have been in America, so I'm not sure they died for my freedom, specifically, because Germany would not have been able to invade America successfully. But that's quibbling; many Red Army soldiers did die for the freedom of people west of the Iron Curtain, yes. That's not relevant to the fact that Stalin was directly responsible for the unjustified deaths of millions of innocent people.
