The most talented diplomats
I guess I'm not the only one who likes wandering sometimes between players' profiles, watching their percentage of losses/wins/draws etc. So, judging by this percentage, who are the most, like, talented diplomacy players you know? Or are you one of them?.

We've paused a game for the weekend and one of the players didn't come back to unpause. Is there anything we can do to get it going again? The game link is:

A Symbol of Strength or Rusted Over: How Do You Feel About The Iron Lady, Ms. Thatcher?
So I'll be seeing "The Iron Lady" soon enough--first, because it looks like a good film, and second, for PoliSci, with my PoliSci friends, because, hey, I'll be seeing the Leonardo DiCaprio "The Great Gatsby" and the new "Romeo and Juliet" with my English Lit. friends this year and hoping for the best, this is just what I do--and it strikes me now...I know her more in the abstract than in detail, so, for those who DO really know her--great leader, or terrible misstep?

Best FICTIONAL US Presidents
A spin-off of the now-embroiled-in-bickering-over-Lincoln (who didn't see that coming?) "Best US Presidents" thread...
We're here to honor the best fictional men and women to ever take up residence in a fictional Pennsylvania Ave. and walk up the fictional steps to their own fictional White House...Best President AND Most Entertaining President--who do you wish were "real," and then, who was most entertaining?
President Eden.

My picks:

Best Fictional President:

Josiah "Jed" Bartlett from "The West Wing."

HOW has Martin Sheen never won an Oscar or Emmy?

But he has to win here, "The West Wing" was one of the best American Dramas ever, both on the count of Emmy awards and nominations--I think it was at least nominated for Best Drama every year of it's 7-year, 170+ episode run, and won a few times there--and was simply a great show...

If you haven't seen it, watch it, and watch it over again (though you'll probably like it more if you lean Left than Right, but still, there are some good Republican characters, like Ainsley Hayes and Arnold Vinick and Glen Allen Walken...)

Sheen as President Bartlet really cemented an already-great cast--

His President is sort of a hybrid of FDR, JFK, and Reagan...

FDR's illness and some of the same ideas...
JFK's charisma and the fact both are Catholics and from blue-blood New England families...
And Reagan's look, his oratory ability, and the fact both were shot but not fatally...

At least, that was my take.

Anyway, great series, and the best-ever fictional President, too many great moments to list! :)

But for the Most Entertaining...

I'll cheat, and just say:

!!! XD

Now all we need is someone to take on the werewolves...

3/4 of Rushmore is so far engaged, but could TJ really take on werewolves? ;)

I also got a hint of Clinton from Bartlets policies.

It was a pretty good show (the west wing) however I dropped it halfway through the third season because of time constraints (40 minutes episodes are too long) and have bothered picking it back up.

As for my fav president:
I dunno, there have't been that many republican fictional presidents that have been shown as the protagonist. But thats hollywoods fault with its liberal bullshit bias.

And what about the President from "Independence Day?"

I hate Roland Emmerich for his bad movies...and then one truly ATROCIOUS movie...

But as silly as it is, "Independence Day" is a pretty fun popcorn film, it's just a B-movie with a really big budget...

And hey!

The President in there is a fighter pilot from the Gulf War and leads a ton of F-15s or 14s or 16s, whichever, on a huge aerial assault of one of the alien ships...

THAT is pretty badass...

Art Hockstader in "The Best Man" is pretty cool.
President Andrew Sheppard from the film "The American President". Written by Aaron Sorkin, who later wrote "The West Wing". The film shares a lot of style and several actors with the TV series.

President Bill "Dave" Mitchell from the film "Dave".
The guy from Espape from New York. Simply for allowing the circumstances for the bestn movie of all time to exist.

Bill Pullman - ID4
Jack Nicholson - Mars Attacks
Harrison Ford - AF1
Dennis Haysbert - 24
Gregory Itzin - 24 (best evil President ever!)
D.B. Woodside - 24
Cherry Jones - 24

If you can't tell, I think all the President's in 24 were exceptional in their own way.

never say Independence Day...

Nor have I watched 24, sorta limits the option base on what everyone else is suggesting...
