Minor Car Trouble
So, I've been having a little trouble with my car and I'm trying to fix it myself without going to a shop. So far, my attempts haven't been successful and my internet searches have been less than helpful. I thought someone here may be able to give me some tips. Details inside.

The Top 10 Most Important Battles of All-Time
Pretty self-explanatory...if you want to try and rank your picks, bonus points.
I WILL give one caveat--all of my picks ARE slanted towards the West, that's just my bias...don't know enough Eastern Theatre battles to really include many, and those that do make my list are because the West drove back the East...so you can include Eastern battles--please do!--but I don't known them, so can't include them. Let the War of the Words begin! :)

Positive Rights Foolishness
Many foolish individuals in these forums post positive rights ideology.
What a worthless, destructive point of view.
Look at what it has done to Europe since the end of WWII.

Slavoj Zizek on Charlie Rose
One of the best philosophers around. If you didn't catch the Charlie Rose episode with Slavoj then treat yourself,

Zizek clearly and correctly stated that the October Revolution was much worse than the fascist regimes of Hitler and his like.
He stated the fascists said they were going to do terrible things and they did.
The communists said they were going to do wonderful things, did none of them, and instead turned into a worse murderous fiasco than the fascists ever were.
The deception and degree of prolonged sustained hatred and genocide of the communists against everyone they touched was much worse than the fascists.
Stalin killed twice as many people in his first ten years of rule as Hitler did in the Holocaust.
That is a historical and irrefutable fact.

Zizek clearly defines the danger that Egypt could become.
The Muslim Brotherhood and the Mubarak Army make a deal where the Brotherhood get ideological control of the society by insuring that the Army gets to keep its corrupt privileges and power.

The guy is one of the most insightful philosophers around.

The irony is crushing. Though Zizek was quite pathetic when he came on Q&A (Australian panel/talk show thing where they get a few politicians, philosophers, etc to come on and answer questions).

Though I do agree with you TC regarding the Muslim Brotherhood.

One of Zizek's best parts of the Rose interview was to dispel the notion he was a communist. He stated he was a communist as far as the commons go "the oceans, nature, space, etc." but that his fascination with Stalin is purely to understand what went to categorically wrong with Marxist Communism that turned it into the greatest tragedy of the 20th century. I want to find his critique of Mao's genocide as well. His talking about how marxist communists hated everyone, even themselves, mirrored the behavior of the marxist communists idiots on this forum as well.
It's sad how some human beings have to wander through life aimlessly. You only get one shot and you waste all that time on a genocidal failed ideology like marxist communism.

Zizek is easily the best European critic of marxist communism I've read. Growing up under Tito will do that to you I guess.

Žižek is definitely the kind of Marxist Putin must hate with passion. He invokes idealism (quotes from Hegel are more numerous than quotes of Marx in his works), preffers questioning dominant ideology (esentially to do nothing) instead of engaging in revolutionary action (probably because he doesn't believe authentic revolutionary working class holds much water today) and he dismisses the results revolution brought in the last century. He's a saloon leftist so to say. That doesn't mean he isn't a Marxist though, at least I, as an outsider to the whole way of thinking, believe no group of Marxists has a monopoly on the only proper way of approaching Marx. Actual Marxists will probably disagree on that point, which is understandable.

Zizek really hit the nail on the head in the Charlie Rose interview when he ridiculed the idea that he should debate with the students because he could learn something new.
His response was that he doesn't have enough time to waste and that liberal education doesn't teach students anything worth knowing.

Bingo Slavoj!

It's hard to find a twenty-something today that is aware of how ignorant and inexperienced they are, but when you do find one with this awareness they are an absolute gem that you can pass on your own vast experience too and really help out.

The Failure of European Socialism
We are living in historic times. Right before our eyes the failed model of European socialism is collapsing. The only question is what will exist in its ruins? The senseless youth violence in England, and the self-pitying protests of you Frenchmen do not bode well for the continents decaying culture.

How can a decade old accusation of sexual harassment against Herman Cain even be an issue in American politics after all the liberals dismissed Bill Clinton's adultery with a member of the staff in the White House as being completely irrelevant to his job as president.

Let's Assume
You're France in S01 and Italy moves to Piedmont while Marseilles moved to Spain and Paris to Picardy along with Brest-MAO. Barring any real diplomacy that has gone on, are you more likely to return to Marseilles in the fall assuming Italy will attack it, or list a hold order assuming a bluff?
