Oh, as to your link, it amuses me that all the pictures of "firsts" are all from prior to 1964, which as we have already gone over, is a period where there were conservative and liberal wings of both Republican and Democrat parties.

@stressedlies -- Being Conservative is actually *very* much for progress. The difference is a good Conservative believes that progress comes from enabling an individual to succeed ON HIS OWN - the belief that every individual has the ability within to succeed without special favors and special treatment (which treatment implies the person is incapable to succeed on the power of self). Conservatives are very much for the equal *opportunity* for each individual to excel on his own merits, and through the sweat of his own efforts...and likewise, therefore, to also prosper and keep the gains of his own efforts and sweat.

Personally I don't think this zimmerman-martin thing is just conservative vs liberal even though it gets played out that way for the most part. I'm pretty much a leftist in that I believe in single payer healthcare, some kind of housing options for homeless poor, reduced military. I believe in background checks for all gun sales (why would you unless you're a nut case or a felon). I voted for Obama twice but don't agree with everything.

But seriously, the race issue just needs to go away. There is absolutely no evidence that suggests that Zimmerman is a racist. There is some evidence that suggests to the contrary. He shot Martin because Martin attacked him, not because Martin was black.
