Banned user

I am in a game (Man the Torpedoes!) with a bunch of friends/acquaintances and one of the users was just banned for metagaming. He is not metagaming (at least not in this game for sure) so how can we restore his access so that we can continue the game?

I tried a few gunboats several months back (all live games), mostly got my ass handed to me, thought, "Well, I'll just stick with press games." Gave in and tried a few recently (non-live), and surprise surprise! When I have more than 5 minutes to think and enter orders, I don't do so badly.

I'd like to play more, to practice my tactics and map reading, but the problem is, each one of these games has been marred by NMRs and CDs. (Why yes, they have in fact all been fairly low-stakes games - what do I expect, right?)

So I'd like to get some reliable folks together for a cheap 24-hr gunboat, maybe even two or three games. If possible I'd prefer primarily press gamers looking for tactical practice, like me. Classic, anon, WTA, 5 or 10 point buy-in. Anyone interested?

I don't know if the JCB gunboat series is still going on, but that's an ongoing series of 5 point buy in, passworded, quality gunboat games. Low stakes, low pressure, quality play. Send a message to jcbryan97 and see if he's planning on starting any more games.

Glad you're in, peterwiggin, since you were in one of those CD-marred games I mentioned, and I noticed you immediately put up the gentlemanly Draw/Cancel vote as well.

Shield, would you do a 24 hr game? 12 is a bit fast for me. I could probably manage, but I could also accidentally miss a phase and feel really stupid for doing so after whining about reliability.

This is a good idea but the JCB series was marred near the e d by both NMRs and very poor play. Chased some of the better players away.

I like the idea but I am booked up for now.

Gunboat is a variant of classic Diplomacy with no messaging. All communication is done via moves and orders. Its an awful lot of fun if you'd like to give it a try.

So I jist watched the first Hunger Games

For a movie based on a teen book, it was much better than expected. Outstanding concept. Very good execution. Even the required teen "love triangle" seems more like a potential misunderstanding and political ploy than the Team what's or whoever bullshit of the Twilight series.

How many German speakers do we have here?

I took a few years of German in high school and college, but it's piss poor. I'm thinking about setting up a German-only game where I can enjoy a little Diplomacy while immersing myself in the language for a few minutes a day.
