Banned user
I am in a game (Man the Torpedoes!) with a bunch of friends/acquaintances and one of the users was just banned for metagaming. He is not metagaming (at least not in this game for sure) so how can we restore his access so that we can continue the game?

So I jist watched the first Hunger Games
For a movie based on a teen book, it was much better than expected. Outstanding concept. Very good execution. Even the required teen "love triangle" seems more like a potential misunderstanding and political ploy than the Team what's or whoever bullshit of the Twilight series.

Seriously though, for use in your population how? Simple eyes in the sky, personal use (and then, like, a concealed gun in your right pocket and a concealed drone in your left pocket, or to have fun with in a safe designated area, for delivering post, as a defense mechanic?
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Dec 13 UTC
Bo - You do realize the Greater Cinci Area is bigger than Greater Indy, right?

I believe the drones are intended as a "eye I'm the sky" deal. The nee designs are not armed nor can they be without major modifications. The term drone can apply to any remote controlled vehicle but basically mean big ass aircraft piloted from somewhere else. Nothing about a drone has to be armed.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Dec 13 UTC
And steephie we have use for fun in designated areas. I fly helicopters and airplanes with the remote controlled aircraft club down in Hebron KY.

"That argument is both defeatist and unwelcome."

And you, Al Swearengen, determine what arguments are and are not welcome on this forum?

"If I saw somebody beating you to death, I would still try to save your life even if success were unlikely."

This is a bizarre comment that has no apparent relation to the post I made. Perhaps it made more sense inside your head.

Point of fact, I thought your earlier, longer and more coherent, post to be reasonable and in fact I agree with it for the most part. My point was not in contradiction to your stated comments and opinions. If fact I agree with your point that if there are to be guidelines and regulations they need to apply to the private sector as much as to police.

It simply does not make sense to me that the local PD is legally restricted from using a drone if my next door neighbor's 10 year old son can fly a done into my yard and take pictures of my cat and my illegal burn pile.

I'm sorry if my opinion offends you so.

"my next door neighbor's 10 year old son can fly a done into my yard and take pictures of my cat and my illegal burn pile."

Actually, taking pictures of something within the confines of another's house or yard if that yard is protected by a privacy fence, is an invasion of privacy and a violation of one's civil liberties.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
15 Dec 13 UTC
Does that include a 10 meter tree behind a 2 meter fence? I imagine some issues there.
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 Dec 13 UTC
In the USm in general, if it is visible from a neighbor yeard or the street and isn't inside a building, it is fair game, but if it is inside a building (like taking pictures through a window) or extra measures need to be taken to see it (like climbing a fence or tree in your yard to have a view over the privacy fence) then it is an invasion of privacy.

Drones will be fine until they start crashing because their GPS mapped flight plans don't agree with reality. Then there will be lawsuits over who was liable for the error. Because face it, unlike military ones where they are looking in real time for something, usually to kill, the domestic ones are going to have bored operators that are going to let them run on autopilot.

Anyone see Saturday, December 14th, Wall Street Journal humor piece on the government looking at online game site chats from World of Warcraft and others to see if terrorists are communicating through them?

I wonder how much I can sue amazon for when my cat gets blinded by a amaz-rone rotor.
Al Swearengen (0 DX)
16 Dec 13 UTC
That's just the thing, dirge. If regulations are not rapidly established to penalize people for this sort of behavior, the drone industry will gain enough hegemony that the judge that hears your suit will probably view your cat as acceptable collateral damage.

The better question is, how much will Amazon sue you for when a drone crash lands on your cat? How dare your cat get in the way of an Amazon drone!
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Al, regulations are already in the works, the FAA will be claiming this area, even if they are rather relaxed about it (i don't know how relaxed they will be...)
