I actually found out recently that I know CSteinhardt. I've also pulled in a few friends from another website and we're all playing in a game anonymously-- which means I don't know for sure if their usernames are the same.

Does met count as know?

Also, I'd be very curious why knowing someone IRL matters at all.

I know Diplomat33 and DJEcc24.

For one, I think it is interesting. We are spread across the globe and it's cool to know who knows whom. For another, plenty of people have stated that they know people IRL on other threads. This puts tall of those disclosures together. And finally, I think that full disclosure on who you know should be made so that there is absolutely no reason for people to call a cheating accusation on someone when you find out after the fact. Say I know philcore. I don't, but say I do. He decides to be a TD and I enter his tourney. A ruling goes my way and, later, people find out that we are friends IRL. Accusations fly. If, however, we go into the tourney and he says "full disclosure. I know jimgov IRL", everyone knows and can decide for themselves if that is a tourney they want to enter.

And sure, abge, I guess met counts as knows.

I guess my question really is: in today's internet age, are IRL relationships more "real" than online ones. More philosophical than you were indeed, but interesting none the less, I think.

@abge - I never thought of it that way. Interesting. I'm pretty old, so I still consider RL friends to be more REAL that internet friends, but the younger players on this site may think that is all BS.

I met around 20 people from the site during the webDip F2F including: Babak, MM, Wizard, Crazyter, and Thucydides.

But, Lando, that is sidestepping the question. Who do you know IRL? You know, the part away from the computer. I would love to know.

@Lando - You posted in this thread, so I thought you might have something to add. Therefore, I asked you the question that the entire thread is about. Plenty of people have stated in other threads who they know in RL. I just think this is a great place to keep them all in one place. So I will ask again, who do you know IRL? It's a simple question, but take your time. We have all night.

And I would LOVE to get in on a FTF tourney. Don't know of any near me, though.

@abge - I'm in the Tampa, FL area. A suburb of Tampa actually. I don't even know where to look for tournaments. The last one I played in was about 12 years ago at one fo the Cons in Indianapolis.

To answer the actual question, there are about 25 people on this site that I know IRL (not including people I've met at Tournaments). There are also a handful of other people I know from other gaming sites. They aren't very active and I honestly don't recall most of their usernames.

About 2 years ago, Crazyter and I organized a F2F game for webDip in Boston. It was a great time. We had a bunch of webDip players and Boston F2F regulars. I had hopped to do another tournament this year, but RL events prevented me from organizing it. Hopefully, I can try again next year. You can see pictures and results of the tournament here:

Eh...I've gone that route before. They send you to the NADF. The FTF club play link is broken and the latest info seems to be from 2012.
