So, this is where YOU, the webdip community, say which film was (or films were) the best of 2011, and discuss each other's choices.

We're overdue for a game of Ankara Crescent. I'll start:

Introductory strategy articles
Details inside
dubmdell (556 D)

Recent gunboat and classic full press games have brought to my attention the need for basic introductory articles. I grant that diplom.org has good literature on this game, but I think we should host articles on the website.

I would be willing to write introductory strategy articles focusing on broad topics such as the juggernaut, the steamroller, how to play gunboat, etc, and then on specific articles, such as the Lepanto and individual countries. I would like community input though, as I have had more lurking than playing and I believe the community input would be valuable. I would take input one article at a time, not all at once.

If this effort were made my me and the community, would they be posted in the help section for new players? What are your thoughts?

I currently host a few articles here "https://sites.google.com/site/webdiplomacylinks/

I'm happy to have them used here, and to accept more contribhtions.
A good strategy section here would be nice.

! Nice page start ! ( https://sites.google.com/site/webdiplomacylinks/ )

Yes, it would be a must to make this fine site #1 !

? youtube reviews ? Why not? --> Wanna be a 'Games Caster' !?!
and to subdivided the Forum into a few topics:

- Games ( live, invites, discussion )
- Strategy ( questions, rant & discussion )
- Mods ( Dev., "Multis", etc...... )
- News ( public interest stuff )

That is a nice start. I do not think there is a single link in the getting started sections of we dip that go to articles like these. Would there be any interest in hosting articles on the website?

Here's a list of websites I made that I thought were very useful. I'm quoting myself from January a year ago, so sorry if something is not too relevant:

"
Diplomacy is a strategy board game with simultaneous turns and no dice or luck of any kind. Sound interesting?

In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, or are already addicted to the game, check out the links below!

Resources:
* Good copy of the rules: www.stabbeurfou.org/Regles.php (The first hyperlink on this page will give you a searchable and copiable PDF of the rules and the second one clarifies a couple ambiguities.)
* If you are having difficulty with with how the rules would play out in a certain order resolution phase, use this judge to settle the question: gamesbyemail.com/Games/Politics/Judge
* The Diplomacy Archive, a great site with strategy guides and much more: www.diplomacy-archive.com
* Another such site, The Diplomatic Pouch, though most of its content is accessible from the other site: http://devel.diplom.org (check out The Library of Diplomacy Openings, devel.diplom.org/DipPouch/Online/Openings, and the Visual Index to Stalemate Positions, devel.diplom.org/Online/StalematesAtoY/visual.htm)
* Official site (I haven't really explored it; the site is fairly new): http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/prod/diplomacy

(More) Interesting Stuff:
* To play Diplomacy on-line: www.phpdiplomacy.net (the main page gives a short introduction to the game)
* Variants of the game: www.variantbank.org

Between the Diplomatic Pouch and Diplomacy Archive, they have a huge selection of strategy articles, including variants.

JECE, as far as that phpdiplomacy.net site goes, I've used it. It's not that great. The forum sucks :P

Our best bet may be to just have a category in help called "Strategy" or something that has links to places like Diplomacy Pouch and such.

call me paranoid......
Would it seem unusual to anyone if two countries in a full press Anon game let the phase run right down to the last hour or so to even save, never mind ready ANY orders? Combine that with the fact that they are obviously allied may suggest Metas/Multis no? I suppose they could have chatted about meeting at said time, but.... or do I have Meta-gamer paranoia, a condition common among online dip players.....things that make you go hhmmmm

Seriously, people who are losing and decide to delay the rest of the game an hour by never confirming moves need to be given a ghost rating death penalty.
