Why does the United States still use the electoral college?
I feel it is outdated and unrepresentative. The millions of us who are political minorities within our states that are statistically impossible to swing are essentially left out of the entire election as much as foreigners are left out. This is undemocratic and unjust, is it not? If not, why not?

How does one resign a game?
I notice that many games list some of their players as having resigned. However, the interface doesn't appear to have a "resign" button anywhere. So how do people resign games?

So here's the game. When you post, pick the costume you think the PREVIOUS POSTER would be wearing. Repeat posting is allowed, as is naming a repeat costume for the same poster.

Bunch of dicks and point whores exploiting CD's pretty much sums up this game.

Wasted two fucking hours because people care more about their super duper virtual points than actually having a fun, fair game.

Why Does Italy...
…Take offense to Austria tapping Venice in S01?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Someone please tell me. The only place Venice is going is toward Austria, so why shouldn't he do it?
Skittles (1014 D)

What if Italy wants to open Venice to Piedmont to cause France to have to guess whether to cover Marsailles or not? If Italy does that and Tri is in Venice, it makes that awkward situation where Italy has to guess whether to force out Austria and abandon the Lepanto or take the risk and perhaps ruin his game.

I'm not saying I get offended by it, but sometimes Italy does want to do something not against Austria with it.

And if Venice holds, Trieste taps Venice, and Venice then proceeds to assault Austria in A01 and 1902 even after an opening lepanto?
BreathOfVega (597 D)

Bo, attacking Austria makes Turkey happy, Greece and Serbia fall, and if Turkey is in Black Sea, probably it's Rum and Seb turn if Russia has an hostile Eng/Ger.

And since you are attacking Austria, you cannot even limit Turkey with your fleets.

If Austria is free to place her units in Vie-Bud-Gre-Ser, then, you can strike when it's the right moment (so, when a R/T war bursts) finding Austria misplaced against you.
Just be patient!

Excuse me? I'm the Austria, BoV, and with the new craze called the crusher, Austria is even less playable than it ever has been. Why would Italy think anyone is dumb enough to attack in S01? It's a defensive play. No lives are at stake online.
BreathOfVega (597 D)
31 Oct 12 UTC
Mmm because I switched Ven and Tri in the first post making confusion with the second... sorry!

Anyway, Italy usually doesn't take offense for what I have seen until now. If Italy opens Rom - Apu and Austria moves Tri - Ven, usually Italy continues with his Lepanto (well, at least until Tun has to be convoyed...) even if you repeat Tri - Ven again. Probably by the third time I would start to be upset

It depends on the bet size, really. And if I know who is playing:

In a five point bet gunboat, I would assume Austria was attacking when I saw that, since the odds are more in favor of me being right

However, when I get up to 35-50 point gunboats, I am more willing to see it as defensive

and, if it a passworded game, you can find the odds of it being a noob in Austria
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

The last three times I have done it (obviously in gunboat) I have subsequently been attacked, twice Italy redirected their lepanto in order to fight me, the extreme threat to their survival, quite obviously. Both of those redirects resulted in France turning their way and smoking them.
Fortress Door (1837 D)

and I would NEVER do it as Austria in a five point gunboat :P

If Austria wants to attack Italy off the opening, he wouldn't open to Venice. The only thing it does is prevent the crusher opening, which is usually my biggest 1901 concern.

Why do you think anyone takes offense?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
31 Oct 12 UTC
Here's what usually happens after I tap Venice in S01:

A Apulia >> Venice (bounce, build)
A Venice >> Tyrolia
F ION >> Tunis (build)

I don't know why people redirect their lepanto because of a move like that. It's not hostile.
cspieker (18223 D)
31 Oct 12 UTC
But you are assuming that they wouldn't do that anyway. That is, maybe nothing has been redirected. Maybe they have always been considering to move to Tyrolia. Maybe they are just waiting to see whether Turkey goes to Armenia?
BreathOfVega (597 D)
31 Oct 12 UTC
I agree, for what it's worth.

Probably Italy wants you to dedicate your attention on Greece and Aegean, what's the point in preparing a Lepanto if Austria doesn't try for Aegean?
cspieker (18223 D)
31 Oct 12 UTC
But a much better Italian move is to convoy to Tunis, and then in Spring 1902 move the army to North Africa.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
31 Oct 12 UTC
Agreed, or, if you're bent on attacking Austria, a convoy to Albania in S02 paired with a move to Adriatic in A02 (or vice versa, that's probably safer now that I think about it).

New "Star Wars" Movies coming! Awesome!

Can buying out Lucas bring a little credit to the series? Or will Disney bring even more muppet nonsense to the series?
