Why does the United States still use the electoral college?
I feel it is outdated and unrepresentative. The millions of us who are political minorities within our states that are statistically impossible to swing are essentially left out of the entire election as much as foreigners are left out. This is undemocratic and unjust, is it not? If not, why not?

How does one resign a game?
I notice that many games list some of their players as having resigned. However, the interface doesn't appear to have a "resign" button anywhere. So how do people resign games?

New "Star Wars" Movies coming! Awesome!
http://www.deadline.com/2012/10/disney-acquires-lucasfilm-star-wars-creator/

Can buying out Lucas bring a little credit to the series? Or will Disney bring even more muppet nonsense to the series?

Bottom Line: Who wants to see JJ Abrahms do a Star Wars reset from Episode 1?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Lucas was a special effects genius before the computer age. Quite frankly, he is terrible in every other way. Once CGI came along, he completely lost his mind and lost the one thing he was good at.
AviF (726 D)
30 Oct 12 UTC
reset star wars? never. That would mean no Harrison Ford as Han Solo. However JJ Abrams doing a new trilogy would be epic.
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Oct 12 UTC
I'd prefer Joss Whedon myself, but Abrams would be good too.

@abge, that's why he's not going to be in a leading role on these ones.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Oct 12 UTC
I wonder if they will base the next trilogy on any existing material like Leia and Han's twins and their younger brother Anakin. It's got potential considering one of the twins (Jacen) turned to the dark side and became Sith lord Darth Caedus.

Given my name, I think I'm well within my right to say:

I have a bad feeling about this.

(Oh well, better Star Wars suffer than Star Trek...wait for the Jar Jar Binks TV show, Wars fans, with plenty of plush Disney toys, and I'll enjoy J.J. Abrams awesome-ing it up with "Star Trek into Darkness.")

LOL

Lucas tried that with the Ewoc TV specials. God awful crap. Hopefully Disney won't try to repeat his mistakes.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

My Star Wars fanboy days are long over, but I have a bad feeling about this. The original trilogy has been and always will be the only tolerable group of movies.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Oct 12 UTC
Episode III was pretty good and the fight with Darth Maul in Episode I and everything from the Arena on in Episode II were good. Actually, Episode II was good if you cut out the overly long love story stuff (a bit too much). Episode 1 meeding scrapping and just keeping the fight with Darth Maul and having a whole new story around it with no Jar Jar and maybe have Anakin already be travelling with Obiwan and Quigon as a slightly older padewan.

All of Ep 1 was worthless. Enough said.

@Avif -- Wrong!! In a reset Star Wars, Han Solo is the scoundrel that he is, and while "doing the right thing" he **dies** a tragic hero in the final movie...

@Draug - Whiel aware of the offspring of the jedis, I haven't read any of the books. Have you? They any good?

Frankly, in the next trilogoy (if there is one) the bad guys must dominate for the first two movies...ala Lord of the Rings....the suspense of not knowing if they will prevail, of main characters dying, etc, is what Star Wars is sorely lacking.

Who are the villains in the postquels? The Emperor has been killed?
Tantris (2456 D)
31 Oct 12 UTC
Well, probably Thrawn...depending on the postquel books they base it on.
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Oct 12 UTC
@krellin, that was Obi.

@Tantris, I hope they don't base it on any books. any of them are good, and I'm fine with them using events and characters that are now canon, but basing the entire thing off of a book would lead to a worse movie.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Oct 12 UTC
@Obi You know that Disney already has Star Wars stuff in their parks right? This whole Disney + Star Wars thing has been around at least 20 years I wanna say.

I think this could be a very good thing for the next trilogy. I'd love to see Joss Whedon do the next trilogy. He did amazing things with the Avengers movie recently.

Also it would be neat to see Joss Wheadon's Star Wars versus J.J. Abrams revamp of Star Trek.

I've read the books and they were enjoyable from an imagination stand point but the last 3 movies were awful and i have no faith in any new films being better.

My suggestion is use you ticket and popcorn soda money and but the series on paperback. If you like it then you can read it over and over
Putin33 (111 D)

The Return of the Jedi is as bad as any of the prequels. The Empire Strikes Back is the only reason anybody cares about Star Wars.
Invictus (240 D)
31 Oct 12 UTC
Star Wars was never important to me, so I don't really care about this. Well, I kind of do since I own Disney stock, but I don't care artistically. These might be really good, they might be a new Pirates of the Caribbean. I'll see the first one at least.

All I really care about is that they use the same actors for at least a little bit. Like, oh look at Senator Leia over there! Neat. Boy, wise and not-the-main-character Master Luke, it's too bad Han died in that space thing. Now do whatever.
ghug (5068 D(B))
31 Oct 12 UTC
Putin, I'm going to have to disagree with you here. It's not as good as episodes 4 and 5, but Return of the Jedi is still a good movie.
largeham (149 D)

As long as Jar Jar Binks is killed in a slow and horrifying manner, the movie will have been worth it.

Abrams sucks. Period. He sucks. I'll discuss finer points if anyone wants to have such a discussion.

Empire > Jedi = New Hope > Revenge > Clone = Phantom
Putin33 (111 D)

"Abrams sucks. Period. He sucks."

Silence, villain. Person of Interest is the single best show on tv right now.

Jedi is terrible. It has all the problems of the first three movies. Pandering to the young adolescent crowd with cute teddy bears that somehow defeat Stormtroopers and angsty romance. Plus absurdly dumb dialogue.

Does this mean Princess Leia is now one of the Disney Princesses?
As long as they don't make the movies into "Hey lets throw as many absurd aliens and words at the screen as possible to increase merchandising" I'm good. But then again thats exactly what they are going to do.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Oct 12 UTC
@Dipplayer No. There probably won't be much more Star Wars in the Parks /Disney then there already is. I have seen Minnie Mouse dressed up as Leia before however.

All I know is, if Mark Hammill and Harrison Ford aren't in it, I'm not watching it in the theaters.

Let's remember what made Empire great, guys: Mark and Harrison were pretty much high the whole time.

Jedi was fine from the Vader/Luke/Emperor perspective. The space battle over the new Detah Star was good too. But Ewoks havign all this crap already rigged in the forest to take down the evil Empire? Puhlease!

@ Draug
"But Ewoks havign all this crap already rigged in the forest to take down the evil Empire?"

Why is this a surprise? They make look cute but they were clearly warlike bastards what with the spears and slingshots that they ALL knew how to use. For all you know they tore their planet apart in death raids on rival clans all the time.

The thing that I never got was the Bothan spies. "Many Bothans died to get this information" Of course they bloody did! They were Bothans trying to spy on an all human organisation! It just doesn't work!

Kudos goes to Jabba the Hutt. The only true equal opportunities employer in the whole series.
