Brest is in Brittany. Don't you know your geography?

I know that Brest is a city and Brittany is a region. I'm commenting on the fact that the region is listed under different names in different places.

There are also several spelling errors in the American Empire map -- most notably, "Carribean" should be "Caribbean". Still, these variants are awesome, and I'll take variety and glitches over neither any day :)

One is set in 1901 and one is set in the modern world. From wikipedia's page on Brittany.

"In 1956, French regions were created by gathering departments among them.[5] The Region of Brittany comprises, since then, four of the five Breton departments (80% of historical Brittany), while the remaining area of the old Brittany, the Loire-Atlantique department, around Nantes, forms part of the Pays de la Loire region. This territorial organisation is regularly contested. The Kingdom and the Duchy of Brittany, the province of Brittany, and the modern Region of Brittany cover the western part of Armorica, as it was known during the period of Roman occupation."

So, as you can see, in 1901 it wasn't officially called "Brittany".

Doh! I misread. I thought you were comparing modern to classic. My bad.

I think you are misreading the OP Draug; the discrepancy is between the minimap and the large map, not between the variant and the standard map.

I fixed the Brittany-issue on the vDip-server, and if you care to report me the Empire-glitches I will fix them too...

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't supply centers normally named after a city or whatnot, if not an entire country? I believe non supply center land areas are names after the province usually. At least this is what I believe to be true for most or at least many cases.
