ok website question - what are some ways of getting information out in a stable way when powerful forces want to take it down?

this is in light of even me myself having problems loading my site probably 5% or 10% of the time. and if i am having problems then i am guessing others will to.

so one option is to get another server. but those could have similar issues, or my own server, but that could be the subject of a hacking attack.

another option is an email list. but that could be intercepted and the members could get spammed.

a third option is social media like facebook. that is probably the most stable since they have lots of servers and all the protection in place to prevent going down. but then you are subject to what the owners of each site decide - they have the legal authority to shut down your account if they want to.

Host your website from a server out of the country - ideally, in a country that doesn't have too much respect for American subpoenas and warrants. One local blogger I know who is a very vocal critic of local government has done just that.

that seems to add another risk. because now the foreign government can shut it down, and other governments have less respect for freedom of speech as america does, but also the us government can take away your dns entry, or if they really hate you, block the ip address and add it to the list of do not allow ip's they give to american isps. so i dont think that is a good idea.

anyway i am concerned more about covert acts with plausible deniability. that is, not things like the government outright shutting down a website, but hacking or things like that. so parking it offshore would not help with that at all.

maybe i should rephrase, how can i setup a system that would maximize the amount of blatant violations of rights that people see. obviously the government or foreign intelligence agencies or private hacking groups together can take down anything online unless it is super secret and then the message will never get out defeating the whole purpose.

but at least if it does get taken down i want a system where it is obvious that it was taken down by powerful forces. so that it will probably help the cause a lot more if they knew it was taken down. but likely the risk of being found out will mean that they wouldnt take it down if it meant exposing themselves.

Just make a free blogspot blog and post your nonsense there, i guarantee nobody will take it down

yes i think blogspot is like facebook like youtube etc.
it is getting a giant corporate website behind me in the hopes that they are too scared of potential competition to allow hacking or to close accounts. and they are big enough to prevent hacking they dont want to happen. so you think that is the safest bet? using those stable giant websites?

if they were able to monopolize the industry, though, there would be hacking and accidents happening all the time. in an 'oops!' type of fashion. like windows, for example... so lets hope government regulations and other stuff isnt put in place to create permanent internet monopolies. cause if that happens then these giant websites will shut down content they dont like or have hacking on certain accounts. and, unfortunately, once i start putting my content there, i am kind of locked into that website to some degree as these changes may come in the future.

i dont even have much content now. by the way my indy section ran into problems. this is kind of complicated. but basically out of my 4 news feeds, two of them (infowars and david icke) the servers are configured to only give their files to people which appear to be real web browsers. so they wont give the file to my php script unless i fix it to pretend to be a browser. lame, but reality.
