There is a myriad of reasons why people might not Ready their orders.

I use the save button when I know I'll be busy. Can't be helped sometimes. I try not to save on build or retreat phases but I don't always catch them.

right, it's often a scheduling thing. If I know I'm gonna be asleep or away or at work, I'll definitely hold up readying to accomodate that.

This does frustrate me. I also get frustrated when people try to take my supply centers. And when they refuse to let me take theirs. And when people make repetitive, asinine, impatient, crybaby posts in the forums. But that's what makes this crazy rainbow we call humanity so special.

Also, if you're going to bitch and moan, please at least get the name of the button right. Right now, you are demanding that people do exactly what you are complaining about. You probably want players to press "ready" not "not ready". But hey, what do I know?

Just for clarity, is it metagaming to get other players to unite to destroy someone based on their failure to ready up? It is an in-game behavior, so it seems like fair game to me, but I wouldn't want to fall afoul of the mods....

As long as it's done in-game, I don't see how it could be a problem. Although, you're more likely to get people annoyed at you than anyone else, imho.

@OP if you wish to play a faster game and use the extra hours as a backup to prevent CD-ing please post on the forum to advertisr your 'variant' - this will ensure all players know you expect them to ready within (say) half the time limit given... You are not currently playing the same ge as everyone else, but you are not alone in your complaint; it is just a waste of your breath phrasing it the way you did.

Please take this opportunity to think about how you approached this problem and what a more diplomatic way of getting what you want could have been.

I resigned myself long ago to realising that when someone gets their butt kicked they think they can seek revenge by taking 5 days to disband their last unit. They seem to think this makes up for their defeat. The more we moan about it the more they do it as they know it frustrates people.

I have also experienced the reverse of this. Playing in a 10 day game and two or Three players ready their orders without even speaking to me, then refuse to even acknowledge correspondence.

Failure to aconowledge correspondance is worse than a declaration of war, that is the kind of player you want to gang up on and wipeout; because otherwise you can't even influence them with diplomacy, so they are a threat...

um, just so i understand, if you save does it execute your orders automatically?

Tagger: Yes, either when the deadline hits or when all players have entered "ready" as well.

@Tagger ... you may have been misunderstood. There are two buttons:

"SAVE" does just what it says and nothing more. It saves your current orders (however complete they may be) so that you do not lose your thoughts. You can save as often as you want, up to the deadline.

"READY" is also self-explanatory. It tells the system that you do not intend to keep tinkering with your orders, and the last ones saved are ready to execute. (Note that there is a complimentary "NOT READY" button that appears when you are "READY" ... it allows you to change your mind and have access to the orders for modification again.)

Orders are executed simultaneously on one of two conditions:
1. The deadline passes.
2. All countries with orders to submit for that phase have entered "ready"
At that point (and not before), the most recent saved orders are automatically executed. In the case of the deadline passing, NMRs are treated as 'all units hold'. In the case of all countries being "ready", this also makes it impossible to use the "NOT READY" button.
