TIME FOR REVOLUTION!
I heard from a very reliable source that the government gives black women $400 a week? That is, and I quote, "$28,000 a year, better than minimum wage, just for being women and black."
Now, I know krellin is on my side for the revolution to take down all women, but when injustice like this is being taunted in our faces, I feel obliged to take action! WHO'S WITH ME?

Unread Mail in Gunboat games
I've had it happen before (in completed games) that the unread mail icon has shown up in one of my gunboat games. What's that all about? Moderator messages? Naturally, one can't read these in a gunboat game, since there's no global tab.

First place units, than give orders
I was thinking, whether is it possible to make pregame for build. Players would choose what type of unit they want to build: land or fleet. For instance. Austria would be able to place 3 land units. It might be interesting, because placing the units may indicate the intentions of players...or not. Of not as an constans variant than an option in advanced settings.

Its a scary thing, here's hoping the judicial branch does its job. I don't see any appeals court overruling this decision, do you? Its things like this that I wish I knew more about activism.

EVERY American, liberal or conservative, should be up in arms about these kinds of laws, so why is it that they get such little attention?
Tolstoy (1962 D)
11 Feb 13 UTC
Who cares. Did anyone else watch the Grammys last night?

Seriously, I can think of two possibilities why stuff like this gets so little attention:
1) The MSM thinks/knows people don't care, which means no ratings, which means no advertising, which means no money and no job; or
2) The government and the ruling class doesn't want it to get a lot of attention, and uses a large variety of encouragements and discouragements to make sure it never gets any serious coverage by the MSM.

Oh, and I can think of 3) The MSM views the NDAA's authorization of indefinite military detentions as "conspiracy theorism" and refuses to cover it because "only kooks believe in that kind of thing, it could never happen in the freest country in the world!".
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
11 Feb 13 UTC
It did get attention if you looked in the right places.

Politicians get a little more crazy when they don't have to be reelected, don't you think?
Tolstoy (1962 D)

The American People shouldn't have to go digging to find out about a law under which they can blackbagged off the street and sent to the gulag for life without any evidence of guilt or judicial review. This should be at the top of every newscast and on the front page of every newspaper. Instead, what do we get? The Grammys, Vatican Idol, and the phony sob story about Osama bin Laden's alleged executioner having to beg at a freeway offramp are on all three of the major MSM websites. NDAA isn't mentioned on ANY of them.

What do you want to hear, mapleleaf? It's scary as hell. It's the death of freedom as we have understood it. It proves that there is *no difference* between Republicans and Democrats, since nobody is speaking out about this, which is perhaps the most important thing going on today. Budget issues pale in comparison, because if I get snatched off the street for a blog post deemed innapropriate by some government official, it really won't matter much how much in debt we are.
mapleleaf (0 DX)
11 Feb 13 UTC
Bingo, krellin.

Agreed.

It is the overwhelming silence on this issue which disgusts me.

There is no excuse for it in THIS forum.

Why do I need to bring this up?
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Feb 13 UTC
I'll chime in as well. It is scary as hell. But it has already been struck down once and I believe it will be struck down all the way to the SCOTUS who will also strike it down as a violation of due process. It's really that simple.

But thank you for bringing it up, maple. I appreciate being made aware of the shit Obamatard is trying to get through.
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 Feb 13 UTC
And I, an American, +1'd the "yankee doodle dummies" comment because maple is right, generally speaking, the US public loves to fly flags and cheer and doesn't have a clue what the shadow government they elected is going to do to them if it gets the chance.

King Atom (100 D)

I don't see why anyone should be up in arms about this unless they're a supporter of a terrorist organization. I'm a good American citizen who will never be negatively affected by this whatsoever. Yes, this is a stepping stone to some scarier laws that could be implemented in the next decade or so, but there's no need to try and stop them now. This law is very specific as to what kinds of affiliations you need to have to be affected by it, even though it may not be so specific as to the degree or lucidness of said affiliations. But believe it or not, the government is full of rational minded people who either want what's best for them or what's best for the American people. Unfortunately that balance is skewed, but that's beyond the point. If the provisions of the law are deemed to be too extreme, then it will not get passed. But because it is specific in its own manner, it will likely be deemed reasonable enough to be passed. The government will have its opportunity to over-step its bounds when they begin to implement the law. Passing it is really no big deal.

I've said what I wanted to say. Carry on, all of you agreeing with each other.
King Atom (100 D)
12 Feb 13 UTC
Oh, and so far, the Democrats [Obama] have shown a desire for this war to be over. It's sort of dying out, and I don't think it will be a major concern by the end of the decade (unless, of course, there's some unpredictable event that fires up international Muslim patriotism). But regardless, I'd like to emphasize that this is designed to help you and will hardly affect most people. I find it more shocking that you would all be so upset that a government which gave you most of what you have and has set up provisions for the rights you possess, might take a little bit away in the interest of national security. It may be hard to view it as 'taking one for the team,' but the government really isn't out to get you.
semck83 (229 D(B))

The government gave me most of what I have and set up provisions for the rights I possess? Man. If that describes your situation, no wonder your outlook seems crazy most of the time to most people.

<gavel gavel gavel...> ORDER!! The Council of three, Draug, YJ and krellin have called for order!!! We three maniacs, having come to consensus, do declare this scary as hell.

Draug - i disagree with your earlier (kind of) dismissal of this because it was struck down. it isn't about it being struck down...for the second time, as you point out...it is that we have a President that willfully violates the Constitution, and a Congress that does his bidding without question or comment. and on the rare and off-chance that Congress doesn't do what he wants, he simply issues an executive order (maybe...if he's in the mood) and does whatever the hell he wants anyway.

We are living in a age of a (possibly)-benevolent tyrant.

damian (675 D)

Not American. But... I don't think its a problem with interest. Its a problem with discussion. Namely there being a lack of things to discuss.

Anyway. I'm giving up on this. You'll think whatever you want to think mapleleaf, so there is little reason for trying to explain why I think this received little interest.

Hey THUCY you know blacks were NEVER enslaved? They're not even from Africa, you dolt. Why else would we call them African AMERICANS? And don't even get me started on black WOMEN, easily the most privilege citizens in the country. You know the government gives them $400 a WEEK? That's $28,000 a YEAR, better than minimum wage, just for being WOMEN and BLACK. You pitiable FOOL. I feel bad for you, son, believing these diluted liberal LIES.
