@goldfinger: you mean you can see point totals in anon games? Can you clarify what flaw?

It's a glitch. I don't know how to see it (nor do I have any reason to figure it out) but there are players that can see somehow how many points someone has, which may reveal who someone is (hence why Split hides points a lot) or at least reveal someone's approximate skill.

If I tried hiding all my points, it would just look like a normal game. And then I would have no points.

It would be better to not discuss the flaw. It was brought up on the forum a few weeks back I think assuming the one being discussed is the one I heard about.

Its been brought up several times, Alderian. I first heard about it on a thread a few months ago when it was brought up by other gunboaters. I believe it'll be fixed in the next update though.

You can't see the points. That os a mistaken understanding ofbthe flaw. But the nations (except Russia) are displayed in available point order so in semi-anon games, if you know the players' available point total, you can figure ot who they are and even in anon games, you can assume the 2nd place position on the display (Russia is always first) is a high point.player and they may then be targetted for that reason.

Interesting, and disturbing. If you know who's in the game, you can know who they are if you take some effort. Or, a real life example, if you're in a gunboat tournament with some high level players and a few lowlifes, you can see which is which.

Alphabetical would still reveal the players in a semi anon. It should be by country alphabetical. Russia (4 SCs), Austria, England, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey. Simple really.

@Min of War just starting a game with 8Ffold and did a quick look at profiles and saw discrepancy. then while looking at games saw the game name and points. Just a guess really but shows he has no shame assuming its his annon game...

Going back a few years when I played live games a lot it was far easier to get a game going if you hid your points than if you put them on display. Lots of people (not the ones who visit the forums so much, but the several thousand who don't) do see points as an indicator of skill and simply won't join a game with people who have a bucketload of points by their names.

Of course, things may have changed. You'd get 2 or 3 live games per night back in the good old days, and people could skip one and wait to join the next.

Granted, the site didn't work half as well as it did now, and cheating bastards like Azogar would run free, and the feature that allowed you to post cheating accusations on people's profiles was a little silly in hindsight... But aside from that everything was rosey!
