Massive Power Outages
My power just got back on, and although I thankfully didn't miss any moves, it would have been nice to have more time to chat/think. Would it be a good idea to add some delay in across all non-live games when there is a large power outage on a multi-state scale?

Different Maps
I have been on this website for several months now, and all I ever see and can play are the 3 maps (Classic, Ancient Mediterranean, and World Diplomacy IX). Is this website going to add any other maps, or will it always be the same 3 maps? I've tried a different website, vdiplomacy.com which is similar to this, but has more maps. I want to know what's going to happen.

England EoG Part 1

Pre-Game: So, shortly after I achieved my first Classic WTA solo, Grand Duke Feodor opened signups for a variety of Classic game that is relatively rare amongst high-end players: a non-anon PPSC! Several highly talented players joined, and as I was rising in the GR ranks I managed to get myself on the list as well. What an opportunity!

I draw England, my second game as said nation. The first had ended as a Survive after a ERT triple concluded with Turkey CDing and Russia stabbing me for the win. I knew I was up against significantly stronger players this time, however, so I took any lessons from the prior game with a grain of salt.

I decide that my first priority will be minimizing the number of hostile fleets in the north. This entails the capture or pacification of Brest, StP, Kiel, and Berlin. I need to ensure that these centers fall, either to myself or others, or else produce few, if any, fleets.

Spring 1901

Grand Duke Feodor, as Russia, immediately contacts me and states his intention to move south. I also receive a very friendly message from Austria, who flatters me a bit and suggests that exchange information and coordinate our diplomacy. His suggested course of action is pro-German and anti-Russian, which does not surprise me much. I heartily accept his offer of coordination, and suggest that he feint a CPA until the opportunity arises for us to work openly together. He seems interested in a CPA, and I hope that he can get France and Italy fighting.

That leaves starting a war between Russia and Germany. With Russia, I try a fairly blunt approach, offering him Norway if he opens to Silesia. While I await his response, I begin communications with Germany. He comes across as flexible, both toward who we fight and the fate of Belgium. He seems to be leaning toward attacking Russia first, which I actually don't prefer because I would rather the Russians strike first, hopefully at the same time that Germany infuriates the French. I propose moves to the Channel and Burgundy and wait to see how he'll respond.

I then message France, inquiring as to his opinion regarding Belgium, the Channel, and Burgundy. Already I'm leaning a bit toward siding with Germany, as we've exchanged several messages, but I know that info is gold and I need to keep my options open.

I also reach out to Turkey and Italy for info, though I don't get much of use.

And then, Grand Duke Feodor gets banned.

Miraculously, the game manages to not implode, and MadMarx of all people becomes the replacement Russia! He expresses interest in Norway, but not in 1901. Since that was sort of the point, I push the matter, and ultimately settle with me giving him Norway in 1901 in exchange for him bouncing Galicia in the spring and occupying Silesia in the fall. I plan my opening accordingly, which ends up backfiring because Russia gets cold feet during the final hours of the turn, and I'm not online to ease his final concerns (or so he tells me).

Anyhow, while I'm negotiating with Russia, I finally start talking with France. It doesn't start off well, as my proposal to move to the Channel to assist against Germany leads to France declaring that he now _must_ move to the Channel for fear that I will occupy it. There is an undertone of hostility in our early exchange, which leads me to put all the more effort into talking Russia into taking Norway and Germany into taking Burgundy. France expressing an interest in Belgium, which of course is my main hope for a center if I give up Norway, just seals the deal.

Regardless, I respond in full to France's messages and try to appear sympathetic. While my plan is to create early conflict between Germany and France while forging a strong Russia that will force German army builds and make me an essential ally, I know full well that it might not work, and don't want to burn any bridges.

I also suspect that France will soon be changing his tone, as his fate looks grim. Germany says he'll move to Burgundy, while Italy, Austria, and Turkey all inform me of Ven-Pie.

I ultimately open Lon-Eng (not bounced, to my great surprise!), Edi-Nth, and Liv-Yor. Germany and Italy both move against France, though the French support themselves into Burgundy. The bad news is that Russia opens south, meaning that I must either pull back a unit from my French attack or settle for a vacant Norway.

Fall 1901

Austria and Turkey both suggest that I go for Brest and Belgium, which I seriously consider. Taking Brest would be great, but if France bounces me then he might build a fleet in my face. There is no guarantee that Germany and Italy will follow through, after all, and with Russia having let me down the elimination of France is less appealing.

I do a lot of talking this season, but while the conversations remain friendly I am unable to attain too much valuable information. Germany and Italy also seem to have lost their enthusiasm for attacking France, and for a while I contemplate encouraging Germany to make peace with France and focus on Russia instead. I ultimately decide, however, that France and Germany really should be in conflict, so I continue painting France as a threat and myself as not-so-threatening.

For my moves, I want to make myself a clearly valuable ally against a strong France. To this end, I convoy an army to Belgium while taking MAO with my fleet. I am gambling that Germany and Russia will, at worst, see how entangled I am in France and let the two of us go at it while they move elsewhere, preferably against each other.

The revealed moves see France get two builds, Turkey taking Rumania (but not Black!), and Germany allowing the Russians into Sweden.

Spring 1902

While France growing strong was acceptable, German and Russian friendship was not. Russia then requests Norway, which does little to ease my suspicions. I negotiate leaving it vacant in the spring, hoping that he will be too concerned with the south to break such an agreement.

On the subject of the southeast, I spread a lot of suspicion throughout the entire region, not interested so much in who is fighting who so long as none of them trust each other. I lean toward Austria stabbing Turkey, though, which would strengthen one of my more reliable allies while creating a strong nation at the rear of Germany and Russia. I also of course push for continued Italian aggression against France, which will ensure that they remain occupied as well.

My faith in Italy and Germany is rewarded by a push into France, with the Germans taking Burgundy. I lose MAO, but I expect to get it back. Austria, whom I remain in frequent contact with and I suspect will be a late-game ally, stabs Turkey and looks to be a rising power. Russia, alas, lets me down and sails into Norway.

Fall 1902

Russia's move considerably undermines my trust in him, and his justifications don't help matters. He talks about his own security, but fails to acknowledge that his move undermines my security just as much as the move he was supposedly countering would have undermined his. That he hadn't communicated his concerns to me until after the fact makes me question how seriously he is taking our friendship. I conclude that I can't rely on him, though I try to stay amiable enough in my communications.

Germany seems far more reliable. He has worked with me against France like clockwork, and only has a single fleet. France warns me that I am about to be stabbed, but I consider it unlikely. As I see things, working with Russia against me would benefit the Russians more than the Germans, and I've been a loyal ally who is tying up most of France's forces and isn't growing out of control. Why in the world would Germany stab me in such a position?

Meanwhile, my goal of occupying Brest is almost within my grasp. I order a move to Picardy, and Italy promises me assistance in retaking MAO.

France continues to warn me of my impending doom, but I shrug him off. My confidence is rewarded by a German stab, and possibly an Italian one as well, as he fails to support me into MAO. Meanwhile, Austria and Russia continue working together against Turkey, which does not surprise me.

My mind is absolutely blown by Germany's stab. Not only did I think, and still think, that he could have timed it better, but he leaves Holland open for my fleet to retreat into. Furthermore, he makes no overtures to France, supporting the Italians into Marseilles, which basically guarantees that France and I are going to become best friends (me failing to take MAO helps).

The first major decision I need to make is whether to retreat to Holland for no net loss, or retreat to Edinburgh to stall the German invasion. I spend the Retreat phase re-examining the state of the board and my relations with the other players, and my findings aren't promising. Austria is sympathetic, but sees little hope in attacking Russia. The problem is that he is also stalled out against Turkey, meaning that unless he stabs Germany (unlikely) he is going to be a lame-duck ally. I don't particularly trust Italy, and even if I did there is little that he can do for me. Either he will continue attacking France, which is bad, or he will stab Austria, which is worse.

Germany's tone toward me changes entirely, and he shows no remorse regarding the stab and offers me little hope of relations improving. It felt as if he had planned the stab from the beginning, deceived me with a perfectly straight face, and now intended to finish the job and wasn't trying all that hard to hide it.

Russia's messages are friendlier, but I still get the feeling that he's just being polite, and is proceeding according to his own, mysterious agenda.

Turkey seems to have lost his will to live.

I decide to retreat to Holland and cast my lot with France, who part of me fears will seek revenge at some point (I fully admit that 1902 made me rather paranoid), but is my only real hope for salvation.

England EoG Part 2

Spring 1903

France and I begin collaborating closely. I'm really glad that I was polite to him for those first two years! Germany decides to start blatently lying to me again, offering to disband my Holland fleet and leave the rest of my centers alone. I of course agree, but it doesn't influence my moves.

Russia seems distracted, and doesn't seem to have much time for me. I hope that he doesn't have much time for Germany, either, but I doubt it.

I try to talk Austria into attacking Germany. As expected, he does not seem really keen about the idea. In a possible blunder, I decide not to try turning him against easily. I reason that Germany's surplus of armies means that France can't launch much of an offensive against him. Consequently, France assisting my defense with a unit or two while he and Italy stalemate doesn't sound all that bad.

It ends up not mattering, because Austria stabs Italy anyway, which is probably for the best. Germany, of course, convoys to Edinburgh.

Fall 1903

I reach out to Germany again, and he expresses interest in convoying to Norway. I still don't trust him, but it feels like I have nothing to lose at this point. France seems to think Germany is pliable, which boosts my optimism a little.

I half-heartedly try to convince Austria to turn on Germany instead, but it is hard to deny that him attacking Italy is in my favor. In retrospect, I am amazed at how paranoid I was regarding France. Germany's stab really left me unsettled.

Trusting Germany slightly, I cover Edinburgh instead of Liverpool to keep the Russians from getting it. Of course, Germany doesn't convoy to Norway, and only later do I realize that I would rather have Liverpool than Edinburgh. On the bright side, the dire straits I find myself in finally snap me to my senses and ease my subconscious paranoia of France.

Also, Russia builds a north coast fleet. Fuuuuu...

Spring 1904

France suggests that I sacrifice myself to the Russian gods, in a desperate gambit to turn Germany against him. Not seeing a better option, I agree to give it a shot.

After some discussion where I offer to assist Russia into North, I receive this gem from him:

"My plan in the north this season is already in place, regardless of what we discuss now, so no need to waste any more time on that..."

While this pretty much confirms the feeling I've been getting from him the entire game, it nevertheless produces a fairly epic facepalm.

Everything seems to be going to hell in a handbasket. My allies are mostly impotent, one enemy is lying to me with a completely straight face, and the other isn't even bothering to humor me anymore. I am at a complete loss as to what to do.

The situation then gets even worse. Austria, without saying a word to me, pulls back from Italy, who surges forward against him. Simultaneously, Germany moves against Austria. Not feeling that I can trust Germany or Russia in the slightest, any setback for Austria is bad news.

Fall 1904

I continue chatting with Russia and Germany, whose interest in communicating with me seems to wax and wane, but I do my best to continue speaking amiably in case one stabs the other, which is the only scenario where I can imagine them not attacking me.

And then things get, you guessed it, even worse. France expresses an interest in taking Belgium from me in order to get Germany to let his guard down. I try to talk him out of it, but receive no more messages until the end of the turn.

When the moves are revealed, France takes Belgium, Germany takes the Channel, I trade Edinburgh for Liverpool, and Russia stabs Austria as well.

This turn of events leaves me at my lowest point in the entire game. France looks like he has joined the "stab me with a straight face" club, my buddy Austria is being attacked from all sides, and the only consolation is that Russia seems in slightly less of a hurry to kill me now. How in the world am I going to get out of this one?

Spring 1905

With my military weak and poorly positioned to do anything but defend, I am forced to rely entirely on my diplomacy. Seeing as I am on death's door, I find ample motivation to redouble my efforts on all fronts.

Germany and Russia... don't say much. Neither do Italy and Turkey. Austria informs me that we're both screwed. What a great start!

France at least responds to my messages in-depth, but we disagree over how to proceed. France insists that Germany growing strong will provoke a Russian stab (which doesn't ease my paranoia over an FG... but do I really have a choice any more?). I tell him that I have little faith in Russia, who is more or less giving me the silent treatment (so is Germany). France still wants to maintain his "fake" friendship with Germany, prompting me to send a series of increasingly detailed and desperate messages encouraging him to make a move on Germany.

When the turn ends, I fully expect France and Germany to finish me off. To my surprise, France decides not to kill me after all, and stabs Germany. Apparently my efforts paid off, and I allow myself to feel a bit of hope that I might not be the first player eliminated after all.

Meanwhile, Austria is getting slaughtered. To compensate, Germany isn't looking so good himself, with Russia encroaching upon him and France having snagged a powerful position (following a moveset that I spent days trying to sell him).

Fall 1905

Despite the French being in Munich, both he and I try to court Germany against the Russians, whom I am still talking with but am unable to steer the conversation anywhere useful. Austria seems to have given up, and Italy finally starts talking more frequently.

Knowing that I am unlikely to get a third center this year, I start courting Italy as a contingency against France. Italy seems optimistic about finally being able to expand, and we agree to protect each other if France tries anything. That helps to alleviate my concerns that I will simply be done away with once the increasingly-isolated Germany is no longer a threat.

When the moves are revealed, Russia is looking to be a serious problem. He builds yet another fleet in the north, and another in the south. A solo attempt looks nigh, which isn't too bad for me as it means I will be a valuable asset even if Germany falls.

Spring 1906

Most of my effort this turn goes into negotiating with France how to proceed, and I receive little communication from the other players anyhow. I finally convince him to do things my way and guarantee Norwegian, and I end up reading Germany correctly.

Meanwhile, France gets Kiel, but loses Munich and ends up surrounded by German forces. Turkey forces a Russian fleet disband, and Austria throws in the towel.

Fall 1906

I encourage Italy to go for gold and stab Germany or Russia. Either works for me, as attacking the former keeps Russia as a solo threat that France will need me to counter, and attacking the latter keeps Germany strong and a distraction for France.

I continue to talk strategy with France, and we settle on a moveset which guarantees Edinburgh and gives us a good shot at both North and Holland.

We end up getting North, which is great, but Germany outmaneuvers us in the south and retakes the entirety of his homeland. This leaves him with no net loss, which provides me with an excellent opportunity to talk him into disbanding his army on my island and rebuilding in Berlin. Unfortunately, there is the problem of France being able to retreat to Denmark, and talks stall for a while until France finally reaches an agreement with Germany, and both armies are disbanded. Whew!

Meanwhile, Italy stabs Russia and swells to seven centers. With former Austria and southern France suddenly devoid of units, Italy suddenly looks to be in a great position. I encourage him to expand in the Balkans while positioning himself against France, knowing full well that an Italian solo attempt would virtually guarantee my survival.

Austria is finally eliminated. So much for conquering the world together.

Spring 1907

This turn is mostly spent positioning and assuring France, Germany, and Italy of my usefulness. France ends up losing North, but retreats to Holland. Italy force disbands Serbia, and is looking really powerful in the south.

Fall 1907

I chat with France about moves for a bit, but he vanishes abruptly. I end up getting Norwegian while France mostly holds. Consequently, the Germans retake Holland, and the Russian-German alliance remains extremely dangerous. To make matters worse, Italy does not attack either of them further, and instead supports the Russians into Bulgaria.

While the French setbacks ensure that he still needs me, the potential GIR triple disturbs me greatly, and I immediately set to work breaking it apart.
Tasnica (3366 D)

England EoG Part 3

Spring 1908

I finally get Germany to start communicating regularly again, but the best I am able to get out of him is a vague offer to help me get North. Italy is thinking about France, which isn't the greatest timing for me as both Germany and Russia remain strong. I implore him to at least ensure that he receives the lion's share of Turkey, rather than Russia.

Meanwhile, Russia finally starts talking seriously with me again, and immediately he proposes that I stab France. Yeah, no. I try to steer the conversation toward a Russian solo, offering to assist his expansion if he attacks Germany. I also suggest that me stabbing France might be unnecessary if Italy stabs France first, hoping that, if Italy does end up attacking France, I might be able to talk Russia into moving on Germany.

Italy does end up stabbing France, and Turkey continues to collapse. I'm now on a time limit for breaking the GIR triple. I begin working with France to stall for as long as possible, to give us more time to talk one into stabbing.

Fall 1908

I negotiate extensively with Russia over the North Sea. He asks me to support it into the Channel, but I fear that if I do that Germany will get it and I'll have to worry about supported attacks on London to worry about. Russia then mentions that he won't be protecting North, and says I'm free to support myself into it (which of course would require London). I suggest that me disbanding his fleet there would allow him another army for defense against Italy, and he doesn't seem all that opposed to the idea.

I follow through with the second plan, and finally take North. Russia immediately tries to guilt trip me for not going along with his original plan, and I tell him to stop sending mixed messages. By this point in the game, I've had enough of his pleas of innocence, and start calling him out. He eventually concedes the point that I would be a fool to attack him with a clear Italian solo threat, and says he will "consider" DMZing Norwegian and moving to NAO to contain the Italians.

Speaking of the Italians, France lets them into Spain and Marseilles, in the hope that this will finally prompt the GIR to start fighting with one another. This makes it all the easier for me to tell Russia (and Germany) to stop trying to get me to turn on France and do something about Italy already.

Spring 1909

Germany starts talking about stabbing Russia, which I heartily support. We start talking about potential draws, and I assure him that France and myself can contain Italy even if Russia falls. Russia, meanwhile, agrees to move to NAO, which is fine with me so long as he stays out of Norwegian.

Simultaneously, Italy informs me that he will be taking Vienna from the Germans. Suddenly, there is a prospect of the GIR triple turning into a huge mess, with all three out of position and fighting one another, while France, Turkey, and I weather the storm and, hopefully, come out on top. I love it.

The stab comes. Germany attacks Russia, while Italy attacks both of them. Fantastic.

Fall 1909

Russia is suddenly begging me for assistance, which I have to admit is rather satisfying. I contemplate ignoring him for a few years except for the occasional chat about the weather, but of course I ultimately decide to give him my ear. After all, I might need him some day.

Meanwhile, I negotiate with Germany over how to kill him, while of course substantially increasing my own security in the north. And contain Italy, too. That's important.

Russia starts sending out essays to various nations, including Germany and myself. I can't deny that he is really, really good at what he does, but I can afford to bloody him up a bit more.

For moves, Russia supports Italy into MAO and Con, Germany takes Marseilles from the Italians and Sweden and Warsaw from the Russians, and I take Norway.

Having four units has never felt so good.

Spring 1910

I re-assess the situation on the board. I am much safer than before, and Germany is positioned to help France survive. Italy is continuing to expand, though, and Russia is actively helping him. He's not going to solo just yet, but I need to make sure that Russia doesn't hate us enough to let him do just that.

I continue talking with Russia to reassure him that cooperation between us is not impossible, and it eventually comes out that he plans to help Italy as close to a solo as possible in order to get Germany to stop attacking him. I have no problem with this, but encourage him to disband and position himself so that he _can_ close the Italian floodgate when the time comes. I did not come this far for a Survive, after all!

Meanwhile, I talk extensively with Germany and France about maximizing our ability to seize and hold a stalemate line (while leaving me with growing dominance in the north, of course). I also encourage Germany to begin reaching out to Russia again, in the hope of making the Russians less reckless in aid to Italy.

Unfortunately, Germany himself becomes a bit reckless, and is confident that Russia can be eliminated while still containing Italy. I urge caution, and work to reassure Russia that I will intervene if Germany tries to eliminate him entirely. I know that Italy can not be stopped if Russia goes full-out kamikaze.

The moves see Italy take the rest of Turkey, and Marseilles. On the bright side, I can now dictate terms to Germany. On the down side, Italy is getting dangerously close...

Fall 1910

More of me being friendly with everyone while ensuring that no one so much as dreams of stabbing me. I even manage to stay on good terms with Italy, while helping France to kick him out of MAO.

Alas, Germany makes some highly questionable moves, and fails to retake Marseilles. We need to win over Russia, and fast.

Spring 1911

With Turkey gone and Italy dangerously close to a solo, serious negotiations begin between the remaining powers. I am not particularly pleased with Germany, as I feel that his moves could be better and he clearly isn't appeasing the Russians. He even starts talking about eliminating France, which I swiftly shut down.

Germany takes Galicia, but is unable to retake Marseilles. Meanwhile, Russia hands Italy 18. Game over... or is it?

Fall 1911

Russia, of course, has us exactly where he wants us. Being in an acceptably comfortable position myself, and knowing that it won't do me any good if Italy wins, I of course offer Russia the moon.

To my annoyance, he spends a day basking in power and makes me grovel a bit, promising to give him Liverpool and protect him until the end of days etc in exchange for not handing Italy the game. I play along, telling myself that it will all be worth it in order to have the pleasure of dictating moves to both him and Germany in order to prevent the Italian solo. And the draw, of course. Can't forget that.

Anyhow, Russia kicks Italy out of Sev (like he was really going to do anything else) while I let him into NAO. Of course, he ends up disbanding it, so all the promises about Liverpool end up being irrelevant. I'm fairly certain that Russia just enjoyed us all begging for his help.

1912

So, the four of us are finally coordinating effectively, but Italy has 17 centers. The west is stalemated, but the east still has a ways to go. Man, what a way to finish a game!

I communicate extensively with both Germany and Russia regarding disbands and strategies for attaining that elusive line. This is one of the more enjoyable parts of the game, as I basically get to sit safely behind the front lines while bouncing ideas off my two former foes. Stalemating Italy is an interesting challenge, as success is not guaranteed, and both Germany and Russia have some great ideas (and some not-so-great ones). France occasionally chimes in as well, and I feel that he is taking similar comfort in knowing that he is essential and thus relatively safe.

The spring moves see Italy take Galicia and Sev, but lose Vienna. Things could still go either way here, as we need to retake Sev and Galicia while holding the Ukraine. More intense strategizing follows, and ultimately we all end up biting our fingernails and waiting for the moves to resolve.

In the end, somehow we pull it off, achieving our objectives while snagging Budapest as well. Italy immediately draws, and we conclude with a five-way. Thus ends one of the most intense and nerve-wracking games I have ever played on this site.

Concluding Thoughts:

Austria: You were great to work and talk with, and it is a real shame that you went out so soon. I think that we both underestimated the strength of the Germany/Russia alliance, believing that we could pry them apart, and let ourselves get too preoccupied with France, Italy, and Turkey.

France: You were a great ally throughout the game, and I'm sorry that I didn't heed your warnings about the German stab until it was too late. I guess I should also apologize for encouraging all the pressure you faced from Italy, but betrayal by my other neighbors made me so incredibly paranoid that I wanted every contingency that I could get. I did my best to my best to make up for it by placing a high value on your concerns, and rebuffing all the German and Russian attempts to get me to stab you.

Germany: I can't deny that you are extremely talented at stabbing, as neither Russia nor myself saw them coming. It was enjoyable working with you before the stab, but afterward there were long droughts in communication, and I never felt that I could rely on you. Your tone was simply different, and I rarely felt that my needs were being considered. You did succeed in making me incredibly paranoid, though, which is why I spent most of the rest of the game turtling and talking everyone else into doing what I needed them to.

While I disagree with many of the choices you made during the game, you did pull through at the end when it counted most. Next time, work on making amends with nations after you've stabbed them, as both Russia and myself were extremely reluctant to work with you again.

Italy: I admit that our relationship was somewhat awkward during the first half of the game, as I was never quite sure what to do with you. You couldn't reach either of the nations which threatened me the most, I needed Austria and Turkey strong, and while I wanted pressure on France I didn't want _too_ much. I didn't really want anyone killing you, either, because that would distract them from more important fronts and I enjoyed working with you. In short, I basically had to hope that you would sit around and not do much.

Austria's fall made things easier, as it gave you a "safe" place to expand and set you up for the solo attempt, which was great for me. Sorry for encouraging your expansion while not doing all that much to help, but it was one of the few means I had of diverting attention from the north. I enjoyed talking with you, and you played a great game. A solo, had it occurred, would definitely have been deserved.

Russia: First of all, you are an extremely skilled diplomat. You have a way of spinning anything so that it makes you look good and others look bad, and are excellent at inspiring guilt in others.

That said, you also have a way of pushing people away. When I communicated with you during the first half of the game, I felt that my concerns were not being heard. This reached a climax when I was on the ropes against Germany and myself, getting to the point where I felt that what I said to you didn't matter, that you had made up your mind before we'd even started talking. If my ideas happened to align with your existing plans, great. Otherwise, too bad, you were getting your way whether I liked it or not.

This feeling that I got made me less inclined to compromise with you in future dealings, as I felt that I wouldn't get anything out of concessions to you that you weren't planning on giving me anyway. I of course always gave your offers full consideration, but it made me less likely to give you the benefit of the doubt. Those years when I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously had a lasting impact, and influenced my decision not to stab Germany after he stabbed you.

Tactically, you were impeccable, and diplomatically you had many nations dancing to your tune. I feel, however, that you could have been even more successful had you been more able to convince the other players that they could co-exist with you in the long term, as equals.

Turkey: I enjoyed communicating with you throughout the game, and genuinely worked hard to assist your survival. Alas, it was not to be, but you held off the parade of invasions for an impressively long time. Perhaps next time we can actually cooperate more directly.

One bump for those I played with, in case they missed it the first time around.

Thanks for the EoG, very interesting and in-depth comments, which comes as no surprise to me, I liked you from day one in this game and came away impressed with your play and looking forward to playing you again. As far as your critique of my play, I think yours is a valid assessment, though that's not to say I agree with it. There are many ways to play this game and many ways to be successful, and what works for one person doesn't always work for another. Clearly I did not do so well in here, since I nearly died, but I tend to be okay with just going with the flow and spontaneously reacting to in-game situations as I see fit in the moment, and even though it doesn't always allow me to do as well as I could, I ultimately care more about "how I play the game" (based on my own personal criteria, of course) rather than "whether I win or lose (or draw)". To say that another way, sometimes doing things wrong and turning people off can provide an extra challenge that makes success (however one chooses to define that) that much more satisfying. :-)

I can definitely agree than any win that is neither fun nor satisfying would be hollow, at best.

All wins are fun and satisfying, it's all the other results that benefit from playing in a way that is true to yourself.

Google+ Game
Been crazy busy at work recently so not been online a lot and fancy coming back to some live games. Would be complicated for me as I'm currently in Australia but anyone interested in a google+ revival game?

Celticfox, Thucy, Abgemacht, PE, FortKnox, 2WL?

Anyone else get this weird issue on webdip?
Sometimes I open a thread and it will be on an old page, not always just page one, sometimes a seemingly random page, like page 4/17. I had not been looking at it when I closed the thread. Why is this/does anyone else get this occasionally?
