I entered orders during spring 1914. I was out of town so couldn't do so in the autumn. Why does it say I resigned? I know resigns look really bad so I'm trying to see if I'm actually guilty of this one, and if not if I can get out of it.
Firstly, I had not joined the original game, I was working and forgot I'd intended to join. Somebody CD'ed as Austria, so I took over, ( for 6 , which is why the bet went to 90 ) as I posted in that thread. Again, I kept forgetting to check into the game, really stupid of me :-(
Of course, this probably had no effect on the game in the end, but I do not resign as a principle, so apologies to everyone in that game.
well if you just missed a couple turns when you had one unit, i don't think people will care too much. i don't think that unit was instrumental in teh game's outcome.
one thing i will mention if people are still reading is that there was a bit of irony in the name. nigeebaby created the game, named it england will win, by some stoke of luck was drawn england, and then it ended up being a 6-way draw of all powers less england.
I tried to do something different and got the punishment that it deserved, it could have been very different if I had taken Brest in Autumn 01 which I should have tried for after going English Channel, needless to say won't be trying that again. I already know that when England & France fight Turkey usually benefits but I couldn't stop myself.
i just saw what you were doing. i think your only problem was that you moved towards attacking france, but then invaded germany. i think it's usually better to focus on one. you made them both mad so they both attacked. and then for some reason russia helped germany attack you as well.
Nothing quite as complicated as that., I realise that if you make a couple of mistakes against good players and you get punished, that's the way it should be. In saying that I will be looking for revenge sometime soon
Bolshoi, what could be good fun is some league tables, maybe the Premiership and then Divisions 1, 2, 3 & 4, all with 2o players in each. If I can get the game data in a spreadsheet I would happily knock something up. Then there could be monthly promotion and relegation, etc, etc To do this I need that data (nudge nudge wink wink)
i'm not sure what you're talking about nigeebaby but if you want the data you can have it. i posted the link to it in a text file. i guess i can put it in another format if you really want it, just tell me what format you want.
is that what you were interested in? i can look at the code, i think there might be an ability to get more information too like who played which country, what their final units and sc counts were, etc. but i don't know what exactly you want, or in what format.
or do you want something like a grid where you have all players along the top and bottom, and have some points in each box? the problem with that type of grid is that it would be pretty big. because there are 400 users or something, so the grid would have 20,000 boxes in it.
I suppose what I'm really looking for but don't know if it is available is the following:- Game Date: Game Name: Player Name: Country: Won/Drawn/Survived/Defeated/Resigned No. of SC's No. of points won

there are multiple players per game though. so how do you want to deal with that? jan 21, bolshoi's game, bolshoi, austria, resigned, 12, 14 then what? repeat the information for the next player? so the next line is jan 21, bolshoi's game, eden, italy, survived, 1, 2
ok i guess i can do that for you. but i don't feel like downloading more html files. so all i have is the 210 games i downloaded of wta gunboat games from january and february. if you want me to process anymore games, you need to send me the html files for the games, and i can run them.
The data you have would be a good proof of concept, if people liked it maybe we could get the website admins to provide the data in the desired format in the future
the dates might look ugly, or other stuff might look ugly. i'm not sure the parser works for that stuff. and i'm lazy, so i probably won't open the program till later today. and once i do there might be some mistakes in there. but i'll give you what it generates. i'm pretty sure some dates will say "4pm" and others will say "Jan 12" or something like that. oh well. i will make a thread or something when i get to it.
the admins should have provided the data when i asked them. but they're completely useless. they want to keep the rankings restricted to their buddies who probably aren't even that good at it to begin with. but whatever. i'm starting to lose interest in rankings so i'm starting to not care anymore.
Rather than all-time rankings I'd rather do something that is up to date so people who don't play get relegated and go down the leagues, it might encourage people to play more if they want to get promoted and shows us who's hot and who's not
uh ok. anyway i was thinking about it, i think i'll care even less later than i care now, so i'll just try to find the program now. or i might never end up doing it. i'll be back in a few minutes.

I think we can all agree that Live games get harder as your country gets bigger. Sometimes it's hard to get all your moves submitted in time AND carry out effective diplomacy, once your country reaches a certain size.
I'm writing this poetry explication paper for English and we have to pull as much stuff out of a poem as possible. I'm trying to get a theme of conflict within this poem, but I'm not sure about one thing. Is there conflict over semi-precious jewels in the world? Thanks.
