Ranking should take into account etiquette, if possible
Seriously, people who are losing and decide to delay the rest of the game an hour by never confirming moves need to be given a ghost rating death penalty.

The Ideal Turkey
Everyone has an idea of how they like to see things play out in the first year or two when playing a country. It might be that when someone plays England, the ideal situation for them is a E/F over a E/G where England gets Belgium via convoy and Norway with a fleet capture, a Russian with 3 units in the south and Germany opening to Denmark.

Hello all, if you are playing in this game, there is a long ways until it is over and I have a job interview in about 45 minutes, would there be a possibility to draw this game out? We have been at it for over 2 hours now.

What's the top song the day YOU were born?
So I was thinking...what was the top song when I was born...well I am glad to know that it was:
Bryan Adams - (everything I do) I do it for you

At the top of the charts when I was born was Exile - "Kiss You All Over". Never heard of it. After watching it on youtube, I am reminded of how fortunate I am that I was born late enough to have no memories of the '70s.

Song Number 1 in the US when i was born =Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly
UK when i was born= Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Never heard of the US number 1.
think the song for the UK gives away the era right there

I'm suddenly feeling old again ....

No. 1 in UK when I was born was "Look At That Girl" - Guy Mitchell. The day I was married Slade were No. 1 with "Merry Xmas Everybody"! The early '70s were very good years for me :-)

http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/birthdayno1 will also give you the Australian No. 1

Mine is Maggie May by Rod Stewart - number on in the UK and the USA at the same time.

Justify My Love by Madonna...

Why, oh WHY...?

Hell, I'd even rather the UK option, an Iron Maiden song...not a metal fan, but I'll take that over goddamn MADONNA (why oh why oh why...I must've heard this as a newborn, and lo! my hatred for pop music was born!)

SOOO glad I looked that up:

Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot
Yonni (136 D(S))
24 Jan 12 UTC
Haha, uclabb, that's fantastic. For me, the number 1 hit in Canada was Looking for a New Love by Jody watley. Just YouTubed it and it is god awful. Fucking 80s.

"Livin' on a Prayer" - Bon Jovi. God help me.
SacredDigits (102 D)
24 Jan 12 UTC
Hey, don't front on 80's music...we didn't know any better back then.

Let's see...

According to wikipedia it was "We're An American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad. According to the site you have listed, it was "Half-Breed" by Cher. I prefer to listen to wikipedia (although, in this case, it is me cherrypicking wikipedia's info...Half-Breed is the actual #1). And those two are sandwiched between really spectacular songs, more's the shame.

UK number one was "Eye Level" by the Simon Park Orchestra. Little afraid to look that up.
SacredDigits (102 D)
24 Jan 12 UTC
Hm, Eye Level isn't that bad. It's definitely orchestral pops.

The Aussie one was Can the Can by Suzi Quatro. That sounds even worse.

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go was the first single I bought at the time it was released, Draug, so at least I had some mental capacity then (how much, since I was buying a Wham! single, is debatable).
