That stage, past seething rage and frustration and agony...when you've stopped screaming and shaking your fist at whatever--or WHOEVER--has so angered you?
I'm two stops past that right now, can't even speak...
And it's a game, but I DO NOT CARE...
Alex Smith--296 YDs, 2 TDs, 40+ YDs rushing...not his fault, he did his job...
Frank Gore, 74 YDs, and chewed the clock...not his best, but not his fault, he was OK...
Vernon Davis, 113 Yds, 2 TDs...he did his job, too, not his fault...
49ers Defense, 20

given up, numerous stands, sacked Eli 6 times...not their fault...
KYLE WILLIAMS.
0 CATCHES
DOVE FOR A PUNT, BARELY CAUGHT IT, BOBBLED, ALMOST LOST IT...
LOST THE BALL ON A REVERSE, RECOVERED, LOST 10 YDS ON THE PLAY...
LOST 2 FUMBLES ON PUNTS...
IN HIS OWN TERRITORY...
OBLIVIOUS AS #1 HITS HIS KNEE...
LOSES #2 RUNNING RIGHT TOWARDS A WALL OF GIANTS IN OT...
10

SCORED OFF KYLE WILLIAMS' FUMBLES...
17-10 NINERS WITHOUT KYLE WILLIAMS...
WITHOUT #1, NINER BALL AFTER A GIANTS 3-AND-OUT, NINERS LEAD IN THE 4TH...
WITHOUT #2, NINER BALL AT THE 35-40 OF SF IN OT FOR ALEX AND CO...
I can handle losing.
I root for the Mets and 49ers.
Both have been regular losers this past decade.
Losing doesn't bother me.
The Mets were 1 hit away from the WS in 2006.
They lost.
But they lost as a team...Beltran, Ollie Perez, others...they lost as a team.
It hurt--but at least I could say the team that deserved to win, did, and the Mets lost fairly.
To be undone by ONE MAN...and A BACKUP...making the same mistake TWICE...
The other 49ers played just fine...it's his fault.
That may sound unfair, or just the anger talking...but it's HIS fault...really, just his.
He gave away 10

, and committed the same mistake TWICE.
Take away 10, and the 49ers win.
Take away 7 or 3, for either fumble, the 49ers win or have a shot near the 40 in OT.
This is WORSE than Bill Buckner for the Red Sox in 1986.
Buckner gets a LOT of heat for the ball that bounced through his legs...
But the score was ALREADY tied, Schiraldi and Stanley ALREADY had blown the lead.
And so, the Red Sox LOST AS A TEAM.
What's more, Buckner was an integral part of that Sox team, they're not even w/o him.
This wasn't losing as a team.
This was ONE SCRUB LOSING IT FOR EVERYONE WHO REALLY CONTRIBUTED.

20 ALL YEAR
Without even ONE of his blunders, Niners either win or have an excellent shot at a win.
And, unlike Buckner, his record with the team doesn't save him.
If it'd been an Alex INT that cost us--no problem, he helped get us there, he's paid his due.
If it'd been a Vernon Davis fumble, OK--his Catch III got us here, he's huge, he's fine.
If it'd been Gore, I could live with that--He's carried the team so many years, he's due.
If it'd been a bad tackle by Willis, Rodgers, or any of the Pro Bowl D--#1

, fine.
0 CATCHES TODAY, 20 ALL YEAR, AND *BOTH* FUMBLES LOST COST US THE GAME...
The Giants played SPECTACULARLY, but sorry, goldfinger, they did NOT beat the 49ers.
Kyle Williams' obliviousness did.
He may be a nice guy, but, I'm sorry--HE BEAT HIS OWN TEAM.
Watched this game in a bar, with 6 friends of mine, 1 another huge Niner fan...
PACKED, 49er fans all over the place, huge TVs, beer...
It was a great atmosphere...
Kyle Williams fumbles both times...
That place was DEAD in minutes.
I was miserable as a kid when the 49ers lost to the Falcons in the '98 Divisional Game.
I was dejected when the Mighty Ducks lost Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup.
I was crushed when the Mets lost Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS.
I feel worse than it is healthy or fair to feel about a game lost...but it's because of the loss:
It's the WAY we lost.
The 49ers in '98 lost Hearst the 2nd play of the game, and got crushed by the Falcons.
The Mighty Ducks all missed shots and let in goals, the Devils just were better.
The Mets just choked, first Ollie and the offense, then Beltran at the plate...but as a team.
NEVER have I experience one person, committing the same mistake TWICE, ruining the entire season for EVERYONE--for the coach, players, AND fans--where, if that guy doesn't play, hell, if he has an innocent cold or tells the coach to put someone else in, if he's not there...
His team wins...BECAUSE he didn't play.
Kyle Williams wears #10.
It should be #-10, for the points the points he cost us, and for being the factor that lost the game for the 49ers, and ended the Dream Season.
To lose, like that...the Ducks in #13th place...the Mets bottomed out...no 49ers until August...
Not sure I can watch the Super Bowl this year--hate Brady, can't bring myself to root for the Giants now--and no hope for summer relief...
It's going to be a long night, and long summer of discontent sports-wise.
