Ranking should take into account etiquette, if possible
Seriously, people who are losing and decide to delay the rest of the game an hour by never confirming moves need to be given a ghost rating death penalty.

What happens if two armies try to retreat into the same territory? Do they have to redo their moves, or get sent somewhere else, or simply get destroyed?

The Ideal Turkey
Everyone has an idea of how they like to see things play out in the first year or two when playing a country. It might be that when someone plays England, the ideal situation for them is a E/F over a E/G where England gets Belgium via convoy and Norway with a fleet capture, a Russian with 3 units in the south and Germany opening to Denmark.

Live Gunboat-169
Hello all, if you are playing in this game, there is a long ways until it is over and I have a job interview in about 45 minutes, would there be a possibility to draw this game out? We have been at it for over 2 hours now.

This has been said before - but there is nothing crueler than realizing at the end of a game, to your dismay, that people are "playing for second." What a shame.

England: Standard opening. Saw France pulling his armies back and was worried about his fleet heading my way. My thought was that if Germany was allowed to get into Den. Then head have two coastal home centers open and build two fleets. So, I tapped Den. France struck. I pulled back, but an army heavy Germany hit France and saved me. After that, I was able to pick up several German centers and position myself as the third in a A-I draw. France eeked into the draw with one center. Sorry Dharmie, wanted no more than 4.

Had gone to bed by time finished but little to say from me. Tried to open anti-Russian in hope that Austria would join me, got squashed in a very successful Lepanto. Well played guys.

The player of France is worse than non-sportsman-like ;P
pjmansfield - your play was extremely disappointing. Your failure to adapt to the situation on the board as preesented, and your inability to keep a flexible stratgy cost you the game and had a big impact on my success.

Not sure what you meant by that Lando, I was outrightly aggressive against Russia until Spring 1902, where I was still hoping that Austria could be persuaded into hitting you. Certainly with an army in Galicia and his builds in Vienna/Bud I hoped he would be going for Moscow. In Spring 1902, when he bounced me it became apparent him and Italy were going to try and take me out. At that point I immediately attempted to pull back and cover my own territories. The move to Armenia in Spring 1903 was an idle hope that Sargmacher would try to move Syria there and convoy another army over, I was hoping this would bounce. Bearing in mind I had absolutely no chance of standing against Austria/italy combined I was always fighting a losing battle.

Out of interest (this is genuine, you are far more experienced than me) what would have been your advice? Was it the fleet in Black that upset you? I used it to support Con in fall 1902 and then tried to pull it out (although it bounced.)

As far as my game went, I opened all out anti-Russia, immediately it became obvious that Italy and Austria were gunning for me, I pulled back and put up the best defense I could in Turkey.
