The phrase was based around the latter, "crimes against humanity" because the crime was the worst crime possible in Dip (unless Meta is considered worse than Multi...).

Meta-gaming is a grey area. We all meta-game to a degree - heck, Forum members know who each other are. But there are levels of meta-gaming which cross the line.

Multi-accounting for profit is bad. Period.

I'm in favor of revealing their name. Its not as if they won't be able to get into games, I'd just like to know so I don't join a game with them.

It's not impossible to figure out if you really want to know, considering how blatant it was. I don't think it's the moderators job to make them wear a scarlet 'M-A'.

OTOH, an apology to all the people who actually played in some of those games would be nice.

I just saw another example by someone completely different - not quite so blatant, but still obvious. I emailed figlesquidge the particulars.

It looks like an alliance to me. Russia is big, yes, and looks bigger because of the nature of the map, but Russia hasn't taken any German SCs. Germany lost those to other neighbors, so he is just a poor player.

Yeah, there are plenty of examples of alliances that don't make sense to outsiders, but are legitimate. When you see a multi-accounter, through, it can be very blatant.

hello, russia in game 10184 here. england is just a cry baby. i didnt get the german sc because they helped me when i need them. so i ll just destroy england for accusing people for wrong reasons. since when are alliances in diplomacy illegitimate? correct me if i m wrong england but you never attacked france. did i accuse you for being a cheater? this is my first win in my first 7 games in this marvellous site and i wont let a bitter redcoat destroy the feeling. you can check ips or whatever i dont mind. i just outsmarted you england!

If falsely accused (and I believe the accusation is false from looking at the game history) he has a right to be defensive.

Since the person will no longer be a multi, how would knowing his name help you, other than having you attack him outright? All that will get him to do is leave the site, which is what you want, but Figles wants him to stay and be a productive membe.r

Aquu - well as far as I can tell he's not so I won't be endorsing your comment there.

To others: Well, my view is that people are due a second chance. Not a third/fourth etc, but a second. This is particularly true in this case where most of the cheating accounts had been left to die away before the attempted cover up. There does seem to be a buildup of opinion against me - is this so? I'll talk to the other mods about their opinions before naming, and hopefully I'll be able to persuade him to reveal himself anyway, but until then I'll stick with the fresh chance.
Alamothe: I'm the only person who's looked him up, I doubt the others would do so before joining a game. I don't play many games anyway nowadays, so the odds are I won't come across them. Also, the alternative (to ban this account) would just lead to him forming a new account to play with anyway...

I can't see how revealing his name would be in any ways productive. I don't know who it is, but figle will keep tabs. It's easier this way to keep track of them and if he multi accounts again all his accounts will be banned. There's no reason you can't play with him. I wouldn't mind, because he's not cheating anymore.

This is his second chance. I think it's fair enough that it's a real chance.

it actually makes me feel really proud that you think i won using multiple accounts. My victory must be so huge and devastating that you cannot even comprehend it :-)
