Okay, so we've got 27 amendments. I've set up a 32-seed bracket. I've arranged seeding in numerical order which means that amendments 1-5 get a bye in the first round. So without further ado, I present round 1: Amendment 16 vs. Amendment 17. The amendment with the most +1s advances to the next round.

In this corner, ratified in February 1913, the 16th amendment!
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

And in this corner, ratified two months later in April 1913, the 17th amendment!
"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.
When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

What's the point of +1 whoring? They don't *mean* anything. I'm just trying to determine which amendment gets to claim the title "King of Amendments". Amendment I looks good coming into the tournament, but don't count out X as a dark-horse Libertarian contender. There's also XXI with strong drunkard support.

Everyone knows the two most important (and most ignored) amendments are the Second and the Tenth.

Well, you've got to advance one. Otherwise it's not a tournament.

In the early voting, XVII has a commanding 1-0 lead. Will it hold up?

At the end of the tournament, we'll be left with only one amendment. That amendment will be the champion amendment. Maybe we'll propose repealing all the others, or maybe we'll let, like, the top 3 survive.
