I see you've basically got people beating down the door to get a spot in your last game, so I will only say that it would be a pleasure to play with you and the other excellent players that have expressed their interest.

But Cach... I wouldn't argue in game with you. The forums and the games are seperate where I am concerned.

In game, I will grant you that my odds of having fun with you are far greater than they are on the forums. I've had great games with you Draug, and I remember more than one chuckle reading trough our press. Thinking of the games we've had together, I would say the probability of a game with you and I going just fine and in a pleasant way is in the neighbourhood of 60%. But given that this is to be my last game, I'm looking for better odds than that.

Rest assured that though I wrote the line with your name and Krellin's next to one another, I didn't mean to lump you all in. Again from memory, I believe that my odds of an unpleasant game with Krellin are about 100%! And there are other fantastic players here with whom I've had trouble getting along with whom I'd rather raise a glass than discuss the next set of moves. At the top of my list, a guy with whom I still hope to hit the links at some point and then get properly inebriated: Lando! (and I want to bet the feeling is mutual! lol)

All that to say, Draug, I know we wouldn't have political arguments in game and you're right to point out that forums and games are not the same thing at all. It remains, however, that both are very indicative of personality and values. And I firmly believe that ours are... well... at odds!

I gotta say Draug: that you want to be in this game with me so much, especially after the heated debates on the forums, says great things about the kind of person I think you must be. And I mean this as humbly as I can... meaning, I say this to express an intuition I have, not a judgement on your character per se. As far as I can tell, you have a fiery temper, and many beliefs that I can't agree with, but that doesn't mean that you don't have other qualities I can appreciate. And I do: you've once written me to get clear on ideas I was presenting, showing a real desire to learn something different. To me, that's one of the greatest qualities people can have: the desire to learn. I just hope I still have it as much as you do, that I'm not so set in my ways that I've become incapable of being open to difference.

And I say this publicly because I think people should remember what kind of person you really are (something that's easy to forget in the heat of a wordy battle).

I know you can promise no drama and I sincerely believe you can live up to that promise. I did recognize that we had some good games you and I. But the very fact that the promise is needed is what is making me choose differently here. I've made room on the game for people I've played before, and room for people I've not played but have had pleasant exchanges with. The first lot is pretty much filled I think, and that's where you'd fit. Were I to create a second game, I'm pretty sure I'd have you on board, if for nothing else than your insistence on this thread which actually touches me.

But there will always be the forums, Draug! ;)
