EoG - Rule the World - 18 Don't Try it on a Cell Phone...
gameID=108452 Oz Wins! (@SweetWaterSam - sweet handle).
Always played Classic, but saw an open seat for a 24 hour gunboat, and figured I would give it a try. I play mostly on my cell during stolen moments, and World Map kicks your ass on an itty bitty screen...

Green Day fans?
I've been a long time fan of Green Day. Just curious how many others are on this site.
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Apr 13 UTC
Meh. Staind is the better group by far.
I enjoy Green Day. Their concert in 2009 is one of the best I've attended. I was supposed to see them again in December, but they canceled the show due to Billy Joe's rehab.

I also liked the American Idiot musical, except that it made me want to see the real thing instead.

Green Day is the best rock band since Pearl Jam and Pearl Jam is the best rock band since Nirvana. Case closed.

They are fucking awesome.
Well said bo_sox48.

-100 bo. Green Day is boring, unoriginal, and just generally not that good.

That's it. Nothing to say.

Pearl Jam is the best rock band since Nirvana? Man, Nirvana's reign was short. Bleach came out in 89 and Ten came out in 91 (and a month before nevermind, which I assume is the album that made them 'teh b3st rock band').
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Personally I prefer Offspring to Green Day. Green Day does know how to put on a really good show though.
jimgov (219 D(B))

I'm taking the Black Keys over Green Day all day long.
ghug (5068 D(B))
23 Apr 13 UTC
How generally are we labeling rock? There are a whole lot of recent bands better than Green day, but most of them don't fit within their genre of shitty pop rock.
jimgov (219 D(B))
23 Apr 13 UTC
@ghug - Lol. No shit. I went with the Black Keys because they seem like the most likely to be labeled as rock. I could have gone with Muse, but they are a bit harder to define.

I like Green Day. not a huge fan, and definitely think there are a lot better bands out there, but I do enjoy listening to their music.
Jetsfan2431 (257 D)
23 Apr 13 UTC
My definition of rock seems to be very different than a lot of people. When I think current rock, I think Hinder, Three Days Grace, Saving Abel, etc. Staind too, but they're just depressing. Green Day is a bit on the edge with pop.
Jetsfan2431 (257 D)

Shinedown, forgot Shinedown.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Try Staind's Illusion of Progress. It actually has some uplifting songs likebthe love ballad "Tangled Up in You" and the reminiscent "The Corner".
Jetsfan2431 (257 D)
23 Apr 13 UTC
I'll look into it. I like Staind a lot, but with Break the Cycle I end up wanting to kill myself.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
23 Apr 13 UTC
I thought Green Day was labeled Pop Punk actually.
jimgov (219 D(B))
24 Apr 13 UTC
@Celtic - Probably. It was so much easier 30 years ago when you had rock, pop, punk, country, and R&B. And for a few years disco. Now...who can keep up.

Pop Punk? That's simply not possible.
I've always had a bit of trouble grasping the concept of Pop Punk. I've tried, just never really been able too.
jimgov (219 D(B))
24 Apr 13 UTC
@L3landus - Try really, really, really watered down punk. Or pop crap with "an edge."
That does help. And it makes sense. That does sound a bit like Green Day. They seem to have softened to a bit since the 90's. Some of their newer stuff isn't so bad though.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
24 Apr 13 UTC
@Trip sure it is. Blink 182 is considered Pop Punk as well.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

I like melodic punk myself ala Bad Religion.

Call it "punky pop" if that makes it easier. Rancid were contemporaries of them, and indeed friends too, both coming out if the east bay. Rancid was by far the more punk of the early 90s east bay bands, but there were a lot of good ones imnsho. Green day was ok. Other good contemporaries that didn't have the radio play that GF did were NOFX, screeching weasel, and my favorite of the time, Avail.

Celticfox (100 D(B))

Funny enough I'm listening to NOFX right now. Love Anti-Flag as well. They're also considered melodic punk though.

Heh. I was listening to The Replacements when I saw this thread. I trend more towards Hardcore.
philcore (317 D(S))

Punk in drublic and white trash are both great NOFX albums from the time.
philcore (317 D(S))

@trip hardcore as in hardcore punk? Or just hardcore? Are we talking GBH/Exploited, or Sepultura/Pantera?
jimgov (219 D(B))
24 Apr 13 UTC
Fun fact: What cartoon used a Pantera song in one episode? No peeking in the google.
trip (696 D(B))
24 Apr 13 UTC
To me it's just hardcore, but I guess you'd call it hardcore punk. More like DOA, DRI, SOD, MOD, Murphy's Law, Agnostic Front.

Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora are the only Linkin Park albums that I choose to acknowledge.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

Reanimation is overlooked but it really is Hybrid Theory on crazy techno steroids.
philcore (317 D(S))

@Trip ok that helps. I loved hear nothing see nothing say nothing! One of my favorites. DRI and AgFront just got too metal crossover for me. SOD and MOD were just joke bands. LIke the weird Al of hardcore, but i still absolutely love hate tank! Fucking classic! Hey Alex, what the fuck is that noise? When I was your age you son of a bitch, I carried bricks up 10 flights of stairs for a Nickle! And ode to Harry, one of the few songs I could play on acoustic and sing at the same time ... Hahaha fucking good times! The original pop punk band was the decendents. Milo rules!

But my absolute favorite punk album, even though hey became a cheesy metal crossover band after their first, was the fist suicidal album ... Punk as fuck! I shot Reagan, I shot Sadat! You're too good to hell, in heaven you'll rot!

Awesome!

What happened?
gameID=115641
Germany. For Autumn '01, I moved F(Den)-NOR, and no units supported hold in the North Sea. From my understanding of the rules, England's moves F(NOR) C A(Yor)-Nor and A(Yor)-Nor should not have succeeded. And yet, the move worked. What happened? Thanks for explaining.

A move didn't seem to work?
Hey guys, I gave a support order in a turn that just went, and I can't figure out why it didn't work?

I supported another players unit into a third players territory. The third player had one unit in the territory and it did not have any support. However my support was cancelled for some reason. Who do I talk to about looking at the game in question and finding out what went wrong? Cheers
