http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=116012

England nmr'd on the first year, austria never showed all together, turkey and russia left mid way through and germany and england when he showed were fighting the whole way through. It is my 1st solo ever, but i would have liked to get it fair and sqaure. Can i really say its my first win?

EoG - Rule the World - 18 Don't Try it on a Cell Phone...
gameID=108452 Oz Wins! (@SweetWaterSam - sweet handle).
Always played Classic, but saw an open seat for a 24 hour gunboat, and figured I would give it a try. I play mostly on my cell during stolen moments, and World Map kicks your ass on an itty bitty screen...

Should we talk about Obiwanobiwan instead, here hasn't been seen for days and has no live games. I'm sure he's fine, but ho knows. Is there a protocol for advising the community if someone dies? Do we have a memorial wall or anything?

I was thinking the same thing about Obi. Wonder where he went? Hope he is OK and just finally got a job despite his pretentious "better than Billy Shakespeare" attitude.
Maniac (189 D(B))

It's his birthday today - Billy's not Obi's - maybe he's out celebrating.

Bizarre as it seems at first, you are statistically more likely to die on your birthday than any other individual day of the year.
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Apr 13 UTC
Probably because people get drunk and do stupid shit ont heir birthday, resulting in an increased likelyhood of death. I would also bet that Friday's and Saturday's have a higher occurance of death, statistically speaking, than say Tuesday.
Maniac (189 D(B))
23 Apr 13 UTC
Doing stupid stuff would account for a blip, hanging on when really old could add a few, but statistically you are 14% more likely to die on your birthday than any other individual day of the year.
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Apr 13 UTC
Which, without a cause, makes no sense. So there must be a cause to this effect and I still suggest it is that people do stupid shit on their birthday.
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Apr 13 UTC
Of course, some actual reliable statistical evidence rather than a statement to that effect would be nice. For all we know, you are a liar like Split thinks the mods are. :-)

They seem to miss the obvious reason why more people die on their birthday. And that is for many people their birthday and deathday are the same day. Statistics that go back further in time would no doubt show a bigger percentage.

*birthday as in day they were born.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Go point. Stillborns and premmies have death certificates and birth certificates so if the baby doesn't make it but a few hours, it would have the same death day.
Mintyboy4 (100 D)

Coincidence is also a factor don't forget. I saw the mayor of my grandmas town drown on his birthday. He had a 7m deep pond, dived in and had a heart attack under water. Took half an hour just to find him. When I say I saw him drown, I mean I saw him go under and not come back up, I didn't stay for much longer than that, it was a big party and I just happened to be walking past.

But other than that it is reasonable, E.G. the amount of young people are are pressured into taking drugs on the birthday by their peers and overdose. Though I can never understand how anyone could consider those people 'friends' As a 18 year old student, I would never even consider drug use, but each to their own...

Also the stillborn point, does that count as a death on your birthday, as technically they were never born alive... Well that can bring into a whole other debate such as that which abortion debates face... But that got me thinking Draug, I may look into it.
What a jolly google search that will be.

Still borns and children lost in the third trimester get issued borth certificates, or at least they did in the 80s when my wife lost her first child at 29 weeks.
Maniac (189 D(B))

Sorry to hear about your's and Peg's loss. (I assume this was your loss too as I seem to recall you and Peg have a long marriage.)

In the UK all stillborns are registered after 24th week (which coincides with our abortion law). Parents have option of naming the child although this isn't mandatory.

We seemed to have strayed into a rather gruesome subject, I hoped you're pleased with yourself Sbyvl36?
Draugnar (0 DX)

Actually her loss predates me. She is 11 years older than me so was 34 when we got married.

What happened?
gameID=115641
Germany. For Autumn '01, I moved F(Den)-NOR, and no units supported hold in the North Sea. From my understanding of the rules, England's moves F(NOR) C A(Yor)-Nor and A(Yor)-Nor should not have succeeded. And yet, the move worked. What happened? Thanks for explaining.

A move didn't seem to work?
Hey guys, I gave a support order in a turn that just went, and I can't figure out why it didn't work?

I supported another players unit into a third players territory. The third player had one unit in the territory and it did not have any support. However my support was cancelled for some reason. Who do I talk to about looking at the game in question and finding out what went wrong? Cheers
