New Variant Trials Finished
Even though it wasn't a actual tournament or anything and the games were originally 'wait for ready up' and that stopped halfway through leading to a lot of cds... i figured as they've all come to an end i would post the "results" anyway

"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

SSE increase their energy prices by 8.2% for winter, despite reporting £1.2 billion profit in the summer. I've had enough, who's going to join me?

DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS
If nobody has ever negotiated on the Debt Ceiling, as Obama and the intellectually vacant around here say, …then how did we get Sequestration after the Debt Ceiling negotiations in 2011. Sequestration was *Obama’s* plan, by the way.

How very little intellectual integrity exists within you morally perverted Democrats…

Rank Questions
So how long does a player remain a Political Puppet and then move on to Member, Experienced, etc?

Is it a matter of how long you've played or how many times you've won or drawn? Or is it just based on time spent on the site? Just curious. Thanks for your help....

Any interest in a 3 to 4 day phase game? I'd definitely want WTA, but buy-in, anonymity, and map (classic or modern) are up for debate. Drop a line and your preferences if interested. Thanks.

was lincoln great for our elite?
bill still seems to think the elite wanted to divide america so lincoln was a problem for them. but i am not so sure. lets say he did not declare war on the south and let the south kick out the norths military from their territory, would that have really benefited them much?

College Life
So a couple months ago I asked the WebDip community for advice for college. Many of you said that joining a frat would be a good idea, and at the very least I should check it out.
Well, on October 7th I am pledging to Theta Chi; are there any soon-to-be fellow frat mates on WebDip? What other fraternities are people a part of?

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well

GUNBOAT TOURNAMENT
As has been mentioned, I am hoping to run a gunboat tournament. I intend it to be basic but also comprehensive. I will detail some "things" below. I would like to get a read on who would be interested in playing.

Look at my France A01 in the game that just ended: gameID=113942

I wanted to keep the fleet in MAO so I could push north more quickly. I haven't seen this kind of convoy done too often (if at all?), but the result is that it doesn't even seem fair how much of a quick advantage you end up with on England.
It's risky though, Mapu, as Germany has an opportunity to take advantage. Vaftrudner did that to my England in a live game once, he soloed in like 1907. I still remember this game.
ava2790 (232 D(S))
20 May 13 UTC
Still didn't get any English dots until 1906...not sure how much of an advantage that is.
Yeah the jugg really allowed that strategy to succeed as well.

If Germany hadn't cut the EC support in S04 causing me to divert temporarily toward him (I think this must have been a misorder by him because it was so ill-advised but we can find out in EOG), you would have been dead by 05.

Can you find that game, Lando or would it be too hard to find?
That isn't good opening for France. Maybe with Marseille - Spain but you are too much dependent of Germany in the scenario.I was thinking about it many times but it's very dificult to run it...
I am fairly busy atm and I suspect it may be time consuming to find. Vaftrudner has not played in a while so his profile would be the place to check... not sure exactly when the game would have been.

I think once I saw Germany go to Ruhr with me in Burg in 01, I figured it would be fun enough to try it.
Mapu (362 D)
20 May 13 UTC
Here's that game I think: gameID=55176
Ahaha good find. I guess I was wrong about the 1908 thing....
It's possible if you are lucky to have a bad German player. Germany needs to attack France immediatly when France opens like this.
2ndWhiteLine (2596 D(B))
20 May 13 UTC
Interesting opening if circumstances present themselves. I think this has more promise in full press though. Too many unknowns in gunboat. A smart Germany would bounce in Belgium anyway and then plow through Burgundy when France only gets one build.
ava2790 (232 D(S))

I think SD just called josunice a bad player :P
Why do you think so?
No reason - I thought so. Another moron on the site.

I'm sorry you don't understand, but given our past interactions, I suspect you don't actually care and are just looking to waste my time. This conversation is considered resolved.
You should be sorry about being so stupid not to understand what somebody talks about. And then posting retarded conclusions based on that missunderstanding.
Mapu (362 D)
20 May 13 UTC
Mr. Grumpypants, it's understandable why ava made the statement/joke he did. You said: "It's possible if you are lucky to have a bad German player."

Since Germany in this game was josunice, that's why ava posted, with the emoticon: "I think SD just called josunice a bad player :P"
Josunice wasn't Germany in the game I was talking about. But that's too much for you to realize it seems.
You are slow now. But you are fast when you want to post your retarded jokes. This conversation is considered resolved.
Mapu (362 D)
21 May 13 UTC
Oh I see -- in the game Lando talked about, your old friend MichMan was Germany. Is that it?
Ladies, settle down.
Split has a point - the Germany in the game Mapu posted appears to not be willing to accept a "balance of power" and instead is complacent with being a sidekick and it ultimately cost him.

Wow... I'm away for a day and get slammed... Boy am I feeling the love... I did press to get holl and bel, but england continued to press me while he got back doored by france and then Russia over-extended to stop me as well. I misplayed my east with russia (well done fair). I just thought you were going to pull back... I thought painfully wrong. I submit my mistake was addressing Russia, not reacting to France....

Hi everyone. Could someone point me in the direction of some general gunboat strategy, especially classic? Things like opening moves for different countries, how to "coordinate" with players given the restrictions, etc. Pretty please thank you!!

IPCC finally admits that it was lying to us all
You've gotta love this:
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/health-science/we-got-it-wrong-on-warming-says-ipcc/story-e6frg8y6-1226719672318
My stance on global warming for the last year has remained the same: The IPCC were exaggerating their claims, and that while global warming is happening, its not happening as quickly as climate scientists think.
