"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS
If nobody has ever negotiated on the Debt Ceiling, as Obama and the intellectually vacant around here say, …then how did we get Sequestration after the Debt Ceiling negotiations in 2011. Sequestration was *Obama’s* plan, by the way.

How very little intellectual integrity exists within you morally perverted Democrats…

Rank Questions
So how long does a player remain a Political Puppet and then move on to Member, Experienced, etc?

Is it a matter of how long you've played or how many times you've won or drawn? Or is it just based on time spent on the site? Just curious. Thanks for your help....

was lincoln great for our elite?
bill still seems to think the elite wanted to divide america so lincoln was a problem for them. but i am not so sure. lets say he did not declare war on the south and let the south kick out the norths military from their territory, would that have really benefited them much?

College Life
So a couple months ago I asked the WebDip community for advice for college. Many of you said that joining a frat would be a good idea, and at the very least I should check it out.
Well, on October 7th I am pledging to Theta Chi; are there any soon-to-be fellow frat mates on WebDip? What other fraternities are people a part of?

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well

GUNBOAT TOURNAMENT
As has been mentioned, I am hoping to run a gunboat tournament. I intend it to be basic but also comprehensive. I will detail some "things" below. I would like to get a read on who would be interested in playing.

Once again, just as I said while CSteinhardt was holding us up for round 2, I don't care what the problem is. I just want to continue play. I will do anything to get a constructive resolution expedited.

Can you read?? I figured it was required to have a phd. There is nothing I can do the mods are keeping me out of the loop.

See two pages ago.

"Since the power to remove someone who has not CD'ed mid game was not requested before the tournament began the team has no say in the decision. We've sent the request along to Kestas who will be making that decision, until that time the games in question have been paused."
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
04 May 13 UTC
If you want the games unpaused I can do that, but I cannot force someone CD without Kestas's permission.
ava2790 (232 D(S))
04 May 13 UTC
I vote for an unpause. Ultimately it's lando's call but I appeal for some reason here. There is no reason we should be paused right now.
Why have the mods not responded to any of ny emails? Why was Dr S given a different story from the mods that I received? Why was this permission something I had to request before the start?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
04 May 13 UTC
I have not responded because I told you I would not answer an email from you until/if you answered my email. The other moderators have not been online much.

Who is Dr. S?

Permissions have to be agreed upon by every member of a tournament. It is so every player does not enter a tournament without understanding if there are special rules they may or may not agree with.
Steinhardt
Lando - I responded to your email 2 days ago now.

jmo - He's referring to Csteinhardt

I don't know what stories are going around. The mods asked Kestas to look at your request, we're waiting till we get a reply on how to act. It's as simple as that.

Just a quick comment in general. I personally find all the personal debates distasteful and wish people would avoid disrespectful comments. This is a game and everyone is just trying to make the tournament fair, regardless of if they disagree on how to do so.

On behalf of the mod team I want to reassure everyone that the team is actively working on creating a new set of Tournament guidelines to ensure that future tournaments do not suffer the types of difficulties this one experienced.
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))

Let me ask directly: at this point is there anything I can do, short of agreeing to resign from these games, which will allow the round to continue?

Otherwise, to clarify, am I correct in understanding that if Lando were to ask the mods to unpause the games, they would be immediately unpaused? If so, Lando, perhaps you'd consider doing so as there's an overwhelming desire from your players to move on?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
04 May 13 UTC
Even agreeing to resign we'd need permission from Kestas to replace you unless you're about to CD.

Yes.

Why don't we just silence this thread and have a proper gunboat without the running commentary, this is not VegasBaby, it's just a game hi-jacked by sociopaths with personal agendas, if you have issues go seea shrink, this is not therapy, it's Diplomacy baby !!

I have no current query with the mods. As per my question above, there is nothing I can do that will help these games restart. Thus, I'm done with this until our TD lets the games continue.
Os is outstanding. Steinhardt has not responded to my queries but is able to post to the forum.
Thanks Octavious.
josunice (3702 D(S))

I, too, request we unpause... CStein has no outstanding Mod issues, and as long as the TD is satisfied for the moment regarding the current round it would seem we can unpause under current tourney rules...

Let's get this back up and running at least until the second round is done...
Joeunice please attempt to read and understand the posts above yours before posting
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))

Nor will I respond. I consider the contents of private messages to be just that - private. Lando, you have demonstrated that you consider them to be something from which you can excerpt misleadingly at will.

Further, I note that I have been informed by the TD that I do not understand what discussions are and are not acceptable in ongoing gunboat games and given an official warning on that basis. Yet, my attempts to clarify exactly what line has been crossed have been ignored. Thus, even if asked the same questions in the forum, I would feel that I must exhibit an overabundance of caution and decline to answer until these games are no longer ongoing, for fear of doing something against the rules. So, you will get no substantive response from me until these games are completed. Let's play some Diplomacy.

Getting back to more important issues, red or black?
So I suppose with that pleasant reply I should give an update to the community.

In case this has remained unclear to the group, the current reason for the delay is that Dr. S has requested to leave the tournament. The reason for this is the following: He was not satisfied with my response regarding the "SplitDiplomat situation." Despite the fact that I shared with him transparently 100% of the information I had on this situation, he managed to get a different story from the moderators. This whole disagreement was enough for him to request to quit the tournament.

Now, my opinion is that 28 players made a commitment to play a tournament through until the end. I understand that I cannot force any player to hold to this commitment, however, if someone is not interested in showing the respect their fellow competitors deserve I will request that they are to be out of the tournament immediately.

I have followed up with Dr. Steinhardt on this but apparently he will not respond to my PMs.

The following 6 players are affected by this delay:
ava
josunice
mapu
y2k
fairfax
yhn

If each of them could PM me how they would prefer to proceed I will take this into consideration.

This is the second time that CSteinhardt has created a delay in this tournament. He has already broken the gunboat rules by discussing his country mix in round 1 (read: he suggested he had 4 countries, 7 games). This player has also been extremely unpleasant from the very beginning in all his interactions on the forum.

I personally am extremely uncomfortable with a player moving on who has expressed he has already quit. You 6 are sharing these games with him and as such I will leave this up to you, if each 6 of you are willing to accept Dr. Steinhardt's ultimatums than we can try and have the games unpaused (no guarantees as this is currently out of my hands).

Again, I will apologize as I will be offline most of the weekend. I will try and keep up via phone but I won't be able to post much.

No, I did not state that I had 4 countries in 7 games (although as it turned out, I did).

The relevant posts are on page 10 of this thread. The Czech stated that he had 4 countries in 7 games. Gen. Lee stated that he had 4 countries in 7 games. JesusPetry stated that he had 4 countries in 7 games. TheMinisterOfWar stated that he had 4 countries in 7 games. rdrivera stated that he had 6 countries in 7 games. SpeakerToAliens stated that he had 5 countries in 7 games. jcbryan stated that he had 5 countries in 7 games. 2WL stated that he had 6 countries in 7 games. jimgov ambiguously might have stated that he had 5 countries in 7 games. I stated that I got a bad draw, carefully avoiding details.

In round 2, after this discussion, josnuice stated that he had 6 countries in 7 games (page 37 of the thread).

Given this set of posts, the TD has chosen to give me a warning and nobody else a warning for making posts about the number of countries. I only received this warning in the past few days.

Those are the facts.
@Csteinhardt - why are you allowed to talk to the mods about their bussines? I thought no one was.
