Boston area residents: Stay at home today!
There's a developing and dangerous situation in Watertown, Cambridge, Belmont, Waltham, Boston. Authorities have shut down the MBTA and asked for businesses to close, and people to stay at home.
See the news for more details (one of the bombing suspects is apparently dead, the other is on the run).
Just in case some people check this website more often than their news.

A lot of focus on the Boston attack was on the two deceased people
I found that horrible, particularly the eight-year old boy. But let's not forget the people who are seriously injured, missing a leg, or an arm, or even both legs. I deeply hope the people who are now being hunted by the FBI are the ones who did it and that they will pay dearly for their crime. Them and whoever helped them do it.

Any Gun Enthusiasts on here?
I am curious as to what the best, reasonably priced (up to 3 or 4 thousand) Assault Rifle (apparently no longer an acceptable term, but we all know what I'm talking about here) would be. To be clear, I am talking a fully automatic weapon for guerrilla/insurgent type warfare. Something that can take a beating, won't need constant replacements after field use, etc. Legality within the U.S. is not a concern, black market availability is.

maybe i need to explain it to most of you. the humor is the fact that they took probably the worst possible situation for the world economy in recent memory (the cyprus situation) and somehow wrote a positive headline about it. you all may not believe me, but this situation is destroying the european economy.
ulytau (541 D)
24 Mar 13 UTC
Cyprus has 1 million inhabitants. What happens there cannot destroy the European economy because it is pretty much inconsequential, it's like worsening the Greek situation by 10%. I'm surprised overseas media even noticed.
blankflag (0 DX)
24 Mar 13 UTC
i told you before every single crash in history is due to a reduction in the money supply by the banks. as people in europe are making runs on their banks they are drastically reducing the money supply. under fractional reserve banking if you withdraw x from the bank, it actually takes out something like 10x from the economy. that extra money is taken out by the bank calling in old loans (or failing to make new loans) in order to meet reserve requirements.

if you think the situation there is inconsequential then you are not paying attention or dont understand economics.
ulytau (541 D)
24 Mar 13 UTC
No, us Europeans aren't making runs on the banks. Several hundred thousand Cypriots are to some degree, which is one of the reasons why the banks are bailed out in the first place. If the Germans ran on banks, then there would be a problem.
blankflag (0 DX)
24 Mar 13 UTC
i dont know what to tell you. you are really confident yet really wrong. but unfortunately this is one that is hard to convince you later that you were wrong because you can blame something else for the further worsening of the european economy.
erist (228 D(B))

Bitcoin apps have rocketed to the top of the charts in both Spain and Portugal. Bank runs are still in the birthing stages, but getting likelier. Cyprus won't be the straw that breaks the camel's back though...

i have kind of (slightly) lost interest in arguing with this community. i think half of you really believe the crap the media is feeding you. and the other half know its lies but think that the lies somehow benefit you (when i can tell you they almost certainly dont). and between the two groups there is no hope.

Cyprus banks have bumped up the deposit-takings to 60% http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/30/17534098-big-depositors-in-cyprus-could-lose-up-to-60-percent-of-savings?lite
background: after parliament rejected a proposal to take 15% of savings, the banks didnt let democracy get in a way and are going to take depositors money and give it to the european central bank whether the elected representatives of cyprus want it or not.

conspiracy theory now conspiracy fact. good article summarizing some of the recent court cases proving conspiracy involving drug companies, doctors, the media, etc. this summary is just a small part of the article.

Drug and vaccine manufacturer Merck was caught red-handed by two of its own scientists faking vaccine efficacy data by spiking blood samples with animal antibodies. GlaxoSmithKline has just been fined a whopping $3 billion for bribing doctors, lying to the FDA, hiding clinical trial data and fraudulent marketing. Pfizer, meanwhile has been sued by the nation's pharmacy retailers for what is alleged as an "overarching anticompetitive scheme" to keep generic cholesterol drugs off the market and thereby boost its own profits http://worldtruth.tv/big-pharma-criminality-no-longer-a-conspiracy-theory-bribery-fraud-price-fixing-now-a-matter-of-public-record/

(graph of unemployment in greece vs iceland)
line marks when iceland threw out their corrupt government and let the banks fail current numbers are 26 pct versus 5.5 pct unemployment both countries were in a similar bind. which strategy was more effective? icelands strategy will of the people, democracy also rule of law with property rights, republic or greece's strategy will of the 'experts' without having to consult the public, laws do not have to apply to certain people (in this case, systemic, proven fraud) or follow property rights (citizens can have their property stolen with the only purpose to give it to others, in this case the banks) ie, totalitarianism or putocracy similar to historical communist or fascist regimes?

NEWSFLASH
but unfortunately i do not have enough information to pass judgment. supposedly, according to presstv, anonymous hacked and released the identities of 30,000 mossad agents
http://www.presstv.ir/detail/295739.html

now i am not posting this to my site yet because i do not trust this story on face. typically when these things are done to intelligence agencies it is done by the agencies themselves. coupled with anonymous being quesitonable itself. so perhaps it was a purge of undesirable agents or a false-flag to blame the internet or a false-flag to further enrage their other agents into hating the enemy... who apparently is any non-government power. or maybe this is all bs. anyway i do not trust the story so i am not running with it, but interesting nonetheless so i am posting it here.

news you may have missed - who knew? the underwear bomber was working for the cia and mossad. so says the associated press. and then the la times report the story as a "sting operation". interesting how nobody in america were told of that fact. but i am sure you television audience were lied to for good reason. they made you think he was working for some mythical terrorist organization because it helped drum up the fear. and like all the other media lies, you all probably wont do anything about the fact that you were lied to.
blankflag (0 DX)
02 Apr 13 UTC
but they go further, not only was it a sting operation, but he really was working for "al qaeda" but then "al qaeda" was directed by intelligence agencies. oh wait... was that a mistake for them to say that? ok they were somehow "tricked" by the intelligence agencies. ok the intelligence agencies did control what they did but this was the only time, honest!

a chronicle of the underwear bomber
1. it happens the media go over it day after day after day
2. cia and mossad officials tell them that this is clearly the work of alqaeda and we really need to increase our security
3. people in charge at those agencies profit from the new scanners
4. invasive procedures implemented
5. independent media starts to question the story
6. independent media conclusively proves that government agents were involved
7. independent people are constantly derided as conspiracy theorists on the issue
8. eventually the evidence is so overwhelming and the invasive tsa is so entrenched that they are finally allowed to admit the truth
9. nobody notices and the television audience calls the independent media audience conspiracy theories as much as ever (perhaps more)
10. repeat with next terrorist-related news story

in the john-kerry-demanding-the-free-syrian-army-to-be-considered-the-government-of-syria-and-have-a-seat-in-the-un news the free syrian army (more "al qaeda" than pretty much any other groups we call al qaeda) just issued a fatwa making it acceptable for them to rape syrian women. this comes after their recent chemical attack (which james corbett says was chlorine and says that is not really a chemical weapon, but it seems pretty close to me).

sidenote: so... since according to the law if you give money to a state that sponsors terrorism, obama has the right to kill you... so does that mean he have the right to kill all american taxpayers?

seriously though, at what point of insanity will they decide to stop shipping arms and cash and bribing the media to support these terrorists?

I watched it last night and found the production values and special effects to be quite excellent, the acting sufficient, the story good (although the whole "Romeo and Juliet" story is... well... obvious derivative is obvious), and the concept enjoyable (although derivative as well - think Firefly meets Babylon 5).
