Nine players so far, which means that if we can get 5 more, then we will have two disparate groups competing in the tourney. Also Alderian has graciously agreed to be my secondary TD, so he will make decisions for the group that I'll play while I'll make decisions for the group that I'm not playing (to eliminate/reduce conflicts of interest). Alderian will also arrange the seven players in group 1 (where I'll play) so that as many players can get their preferred choices of partners as much as possible.

I'm thinking a flat 300 buy in for the tourney (payable when you have the points), 5-point game, 36 hr phase so you'll get time to discuss your moves, finalize when you can (no bitching if people save their moves since they do have to talk to their partners). The prizes will be 700 for the best individual score and 700 for each member with the best team score.

I'm also sure I didn't get it completely and it could be issues during the game,I believe Zultar himself as well isn't 100% convinced this will work as this hasn't been tested yet.
But we certainly could test it,what about we arrange one single game first to see if this works?

I like that idea. I feel like there will be a bit of a learning curve, and this game sounds promising, so I don't want to waste three or four turns figuring things out.

For group 1: please send a list of your preferred partners to Alderian (ranked 1-6 with 1 being your top choice). Alderian will then organize us into a wheel of seven and inform us who our partners are. Once he has done that, I'll create the games and take the 300 buy in (which you can pay when you do have it).

Alderian, please be sure to email each player who their two partners are and that's it.

Since I don't have email addresses, I'll PM the partnerships back, once I've got everyone's lists and work out the circle.

Alderian will be given TD powers to pause/unpause. I don't know if he can change the NMR setting or not but unless anyone minds, I think we should set it to NMR wait for order. I don't anticipate anyone in this group to NMR but life happens. Speaking of which, The Czech needs a pause between the 18-21 and I will be moving to Nashville on the 25th (so I might need a couple of days on the 25 and 26th before I can get internet). ava, my understanding is that with each partner you can discuss your own position and their position. But you cannot discuss what your other partner has said.

You also may not indicate who your other partner is which could be a bit tricky when you are trying to stop your two partners from killing each other.

I'm sure zultar will correct me anywhere I'm wrong.

Nobody seems to have considered the obvious flaw in the identity hiding which is: I have one partner who wants me to attack my other partner. How do I refuse to do so without giving my other partner away...of course there are ways to do this but it should become fairly obvious who is partnered with whom (at least the country if not identity) towards the late game. Let's see how this goes.

Also - to clarify, we are allowed to communicate via email etc since the Pm feature is bulky and Split, me, etc are playing several games with the GB tournament going on simultaneously.

This is possible, Ava, but I'm guessing your partner could also refuse to attack someone because strategically they think it's a bad idea.

I suppose it depends on the country placements. Gl to the poor chap who pulls England when his partners are G and F. :P

@ava, I did mention that a bit up thread and then more specifically just above your post that I posted just before you posted your post so you probably didn't see it.

And as for email, in zultar's original reply with the general rules he indicated: "Players may discuss via PMs or emails. Honors rules apply."

@Barn3tt, on the other hand, neither G nor F would want to attack E and would instead attack each other. That's a better result for E than G and F being partners and attacking E.

True... I imagine there are a lot of nuances beyond regular gunboat play that will needed to be discovered rather quickly to succeed. Should be a fun challenge.

In the previous example, I was more concerned for how that would play out for England in the other two games (obviously, one partner would be unhappy with him).

Also since it is a circle - neither of my 2 partners can be partners with each other correct?
