I work about half a mile from the finish line. Sirens have been nonstop blaring for the last 45 minutes. As far as I've heard, this definitely sounds like a terrorist attack. Pipe bombs are believed to be the cause at the moment.

Sounds like the police found a third unexploded bomb and did a controlled detonation of it less than 10 minutes ago.

It was the Kenyans...they knew all their runners would be safely across the finish line already.

My wife was in Boston today for the Red Sox game. She was a block away in a cab when she heard the explosions.

The TV is showing films of the explosions. They're now saying the police carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect device and that there has been a third explosion at the JFK library (about 5 miles away).

I'm no expert, but it looked more like gunpowder-type explosives rather than high explosive devices.

Praying for all concerned parties. Hope the perpetrators are discovered quickly.

I wouldn't worry too much. Terrorist groups in the UK have a history of completely missing big events. The 7/7 bombings in London came mere days after the Live8 concert which would have been the most high profile target you could wish for. When I lived in Exeter a Muslim Extremist completely missed the Saturday that the streets were jammed full of people celebrating Exeter City FC's promotion, and instead targeted a cafe toilet the next weekend. The closest thing we'll get to a terror attack will be left wing idiots throwing eggs at the coffin.

Besides, no self respecting terrorist would attack the London Marathon after a comedy was made of it in Four Lions.
