EoG - Rule the World - 18 Don't Try it on a Cell Phone...
gameID=108452 Oz Wins! (@SweetWaterSam - sweet handle).
Always played Classic, but saw an open seat for a 24 hour gunboat, and figured I would give it a try. I play mostly on my cell during stolen moments, and World Map kicks your ass on an itty bitty screen...

email as a social network?
ok i am being serious here, after thinking about this for weeks or possibly longer, it is kind of off-and-on... i think a good, robust alternative to the internet is an email network. what are people's thoughts on this?

What happened?
gameID=115641
Germany. For Autumn '01, I moved F(Den)-NOR, and no units supported hold in the North Sea. From my understanding of the rules, England's moves F(NOR) C A(Yor)-Nor and A(Yor)-Nor should not have succeeded. And yet, the move worked. What happened? Thanks for explaining.

A move didn't seem to work?
Hey guys, I gave a support order in a turn that just went, and I can't figure out why it didn't work?

I supported another players unit into a third players territory. The third player had one unit in the territory and it did not have any support. However my support was cancelled for some reason. Who do I talk to about looking at the game in question and finding out what went wrong? Cheers

MeepMeep is self-agrandising, supposedly well-versed in his studies, though none of that comes through in his missives. Frightened to tell anyone where he comes from. (Don't say China. Don't say India. He doesn't like that. I guess Vietnam or DPRK)

@Timur, you missed out a lot of other small countries: Taiwan, Hong Kong (It's like a little country within China), Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand. Oh yeah, how about Japan. There is a high chance you are driving a Toyota or a Honda. LoL.

I read the news, next year the Scottish folks will vote to leave England as the French in Quebec have been trying too. What's the story with the Texans? Can they legally try the same thing?

I for one would firmly support a Texan independence movement.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Apr 13 UTC
Meh, Texas going independent wouldn't happen. They like their government subsidies too much. I mean, all their Social Security would go away. Federal school and highway funds would go bye bye. And the next time a huricane hit them, they would get *no* help from FEMA.
MeepMeep (100 D)
19 Apr 13 UTC
But do the Texans have any legal ground like the Scots to leave UK?
hecks (164 D)
19 Apr 13 UTC
The Scots only have legal ground because the terms of the vote were negotiated with the UK. Secession votes are case-by-case. I can't imagine the US would let them go.
murraysheroes (526 D(B))
19 Apr 13 UTC
It's not really clearly defined. The court system seems to turn down every secession case as illegal, though. Jefferson laid out the "right to rebel" in the Declaration, but rebellions and revolutions are illegal by definition. Sometimes justified, but illegal under the system they are rebelling against nonetheless.
hecks (164 D)
19 Apr 13 UTC
Yeah, in almost all cases of independence votes around the globe, the terms of the vote are negotiated between the nation being left and the region voting for independence.
MeepMeep (100 D)
19 Apr 13 UTC
Well, the Texan sought to join the Union for the protection from Mexico. I would say, now day, it's treacherous to leave the Union when your danger is over. In fact, Mexico would seek to join USA for protection from Texas if Texas is independent. LoL.
murraysheroes (526 D(B))
19 Apr 13 UTC
I'll echo what Draug said, though, an idiot Texan may talk of secession, but an intelligent one knows that he/she has far more to lose from that proposition than to gain. After Obama's re-election, several states filed secession petitions. None of them were taken seriously because they were propagated by the...special...people in those states. There isn't a single state in the U.S. that would get a simple majority vote to secede if a legitimate vote ever came up.
hecks (164 D)
19 Apr 13 UTC
You may be right. But if they decided to go, I wouldn't volunteer to fight to keep them.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Apr 13 UTC

I'd vote for California to secede. Of course, I don't live there and seeing that failing state drag us all down with it... Well, kind of like Germany saying "Let Greece leave the EU! Please!"
murraysheroes (526 D(B))
19 Apr 13 UTC
You'll get no argument from me there, hecks.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Apr 13 UTC
Oh, and Texas seceding would be pretty great to. We could more easily secure our borders between the US and MExico as they would be that border. PResumably, if they seceded, we would make certain no Texan came across to get Social Security or any other federal service whcih would effectively also keep out a hell of a lot of illegals from Mexico.
