Diablo...is making me sad....
....much like fiber. Wife (bless her sexy daned heart!) bought me Diablo for Father's Day. I've gotten it to run *once*. Mostly, the loader loads, I hit "Play" and then....the great void...nothingness...no game. Sadness. Despair. Horrifying discontent. Anyone experience the same? Please advise.

Finally Got My Hands on Boston
I'm not all that sure of what the general musical tastes are on this site. I've seen some very varied responses in threads of old, but I was kind of wondering how many of you still listen to bands like Styx, Cream, or any of those dozens of other bands that will take a very long time to die out of popularity...
Wrote my freshman term paper in college with Boston 3 on replay. The scratchy old lp's on a turntable. "Babe....tomorrow's another day.."

Not anywhere near as good as the first album though. They were all engineering students as I understand it Tom Scholz designed the wireless mic's that let 80's guitarists run around stage unleashed from the amp.

Hm...
It's always interesting to hear about those famous musicians and how they got to where they were. I'm always amazed by those stories where the band started as nothing, and some producer just so happened to see them play and liked them enough to make them into something.
Makes me wonder how many chances I've missed already...

One of my favorite "rock stars who redefined the way we hear music" stories involves Pink Floyd's Roger Waters. He was the first person to really experiment with how you could manipulate stereo systems to produce sounds in an entire three dimensional space rather than just from speaker one or speaker two. That's why listening to Pink Floyd on headphones was so incredible, also why Dark Side of The Moon was on the best seller list for so long...many people felt it was the best album to test a new stereo set up on.

I like Boston's first album a lot, and I even admit to liking their big pop hit from my teenage years, Amanda (even if they don't like it). I despise Styx primarily because I had two friends who were a little too into them (long story). But I like Cream, Disraeli Gears is one of my most-played albums. And of course Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, etc etc etc.

Love Boston's first three, sort of meh after that. Journey and Foreigner are excellent bands no one has mentioned yet anlong with The Who and The Doors.

I try to listen to as much music as I possibly can.
From Glenn Miller to Robert Plant, my iTunes is literally always running. Many people complain that I spend too much time on my computer, when I'm typically doing homework or playing guitar along to whatever song is playing. Music is all that I have (besides poetry), and it pains me to see talent wasted.

My taste primarily includes: The Beatles, The Who, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Styx, Kansas, ACDC, Queen, The Guess Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, Wings, Bruce Springsteen, The Monkees, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Billy Joel, anything Clapton, Journey, U2, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hall & Oates, Blue Oyster Cult, Chicago, Stevie Wonder Glenn Miller, Joe Jackson, Copland, Tchaikovsky, John Williams, Mozart, etc.

I tried Pink Floyd, not a fan. I can't stand very much of the Stones, and it's hard for me to even appreciate anything coming after the eighties or Punk.

Anyway, it's always nice to see some other people who actually appreciate the good work of those timeless classics. I'll probably go into hiding once the sixties are forgotten, and today's music is all that's remains.

@KA - Our tastes run very similar (except I also love Pink Floyd and some of the Stones). Give Staind a try. Find their latest Album, The Illusion of Progress, and give it a spin. Also, 14 Shades of Grey and Chapter V are excellent albums of theirs. But they have matured quite a bit and The Illusion of Progress is simply an excellent album, particularly The Corner, Pardon Me, and Tangled Up in You which is a rare (for them) ballad/love song.

Oh, and go hunt down some Blood, Sweat, and Tears - particularly their covers of standards like And When I Die and God Bless the Child and one of the best blues rock pieces done by a brass rock group - Blues, Part II (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-00xrgBxeGU).

For classical, seeing as you like Copland, dig up some Samuel Barber and, of course, Leonard Bernstein (Symphonic Dances from West Side Story is excellent).

@KA: "I'll probably go into hiding once the sixties are forgotten, and today's music is all that's remains."
I've been saying that for 40 years :~) Hasn't happened yet.
Try going back to 20s/30s/40s blues and jazz. Roots.

This was the BIGGEST bullshit game I've played in. As soon as I showed up, England announced to me that he would be promptly CDing at 12 AM (~45 minutes in the future). Russia CDed. Austria wasn't doing well, so decided to try and lose as fast as he could. AND NO ONE THOUGHT THIS TO BE WRONG! What a joke.
