Diablo...is making me sad....
....much like fiber. Wife (bless her sexy daned heart!) bought me Diablo for Father's Day. I've gotten it to run *once*. Mostly, the loader loads, I hit "Play" and then....the great void...nothingness...no game. Sadness. Despair. Horrifying discontent. Anyone experience the same? Please advise.

Finally Got My Hands on Boston
I'm not all that sure of what the general musical tastes are on this site. I've seen some very varied responses in threads of old, but I was kind of wondering how many of you still listen to bands like Styx, Cream, or any of those dozens of other bands that will take a very long time to die out of popularity...

This was the BIGGEST bullshit game I've played in. As soon as I showed up, England announced to me that he would be promptly CDing at 12 AM (~45 minutes in the future). Russia CDed. Austria wasn't doing well, so decided to try and lose as fast as he could. AND NO ONE THOUGHT THIS TO BE WRONG! What a joke.

Congratulations to Turkey. I just had to remark that it was incredible how many different powers' games Italy ended up ruining, including, of course, his own. Actually, all around that wasn't a very well-played game, myself included. I was actually disappointed to see who everybody was at the end, because I was really hoping that the explanation for some the strange moves was a multi. But, no cheating, just a strange game...

That's twice Dopey has played like a Dope......I want to read his EOG, and then we had a stalemate line at the end and both France and Russia screwed up but Russia had a very good reason to throw the game apparently, because I wouldn't give him a draw.
Well done Turkey.....you weren't Dopey !!
Tyran (914 D)

I'm surprised I won that. 1st win ever. I was lucky everyone jumped Austria and that Russia was very timid and almost afraid to attack me until it was to late. I was in a corner with two of the less experienced players Russia and Italy who both jumped the much more experienced Austria and saved me from a horrible death. Austria played great and I had a hard time defeating him. When I finally got Austria and Italy out of the way France pushed me back to the Balkans and I miraculously forced him back. From there Russia jumped me and I looked to him and France for the last handful of sc I needed.

Excellent. This is probably my best game ever, and the EOG is where it all becomes worthwhile.

S01 - Italy. Gotta make sure nobody hates me.... That way I can get units everywhere I want to...
F01 - PIE in case France tries something funky.
S02 - I hope France realizes I'm going for England with that fleet. Turkey looks like he's in trouble, I'll give him a helping hand.
F02 - Ohmygodthatwasfunny.

The rest of the game was me trying to convince Austria and France that my units were helping them more somewhere else. If I could go back in time and change ONE thing that game, it would be to not take Trieste. After Turkey stabbed (and went from the solo starting at 4 SCs I was hoping Austria would realize that my moves were just too funny to let up.

Of course, after Venice fell, I realized there wasn't much hope left. Then I just tried my utmost to sabotage everyone's game EXCEPT Dopey. I wanted him to get the win because he was the only person I hadn't originally set out to screw.

Yeah, so basically you decided that rather than play to win, you were going to go out and try to ruin as many people's games as possible. Um, thanks?
Rommeltastic (1213 D(B))
17 Jun 12 UTC
Hardly. I started off by wanting to get as man "far away" centers as I could. After I realized that Austria wasn't going to forgive me, then I just tried to feed France the win, or at least a draw. Thanks for Berlin!
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))
17 Jun 12 UTC
Um, you're welcome? Look, that's part of this game, remembering that players do things for their own reasons, not yours, especially in gunboat where you can't communicate with them. I wouldn't have found it fun as Italy to screw with a Germany and Russia that hadn't attacked me rather than try to play a game that might give me a chance at a result. Evidently you did, and I was unlucky to be in a position on the board where I was hurt by stupidity instead of one where I could take advantage of it. Sometimes I get the latter, too, so it evens out over time. :)

I was tired. I was mad that England hadn't drawn despite being in a non-winning position for like 6 years of freaking game time. I decided that so long as England didn't win or become part of a draw, I no longer cared about the outcome of the game.

Also, I wanted Portugal to be purple. The brain does funny things at 3:30 AM.

Also, for the record, I'd say "timidity" in the face of a marauding Italy, an aggressive England, an aggressive Turkey, and a castrated Austria is more or less warranted.

England - NigeeBaby
The game started great as everyone was fighting and France didn't attack me so all was good. Italy was very entertaining like a shooting star but it was obvious he would crash and burn but it was fun watching while it lasted. felt I had a chance but Russia kept me busy too long and while I was messing around trying to get St Petersburg and smash Germany (I did eventually) I gave France a bit too much freedom but France was engaged in the South so I thought if I weaken Russia Turkey will benefit and me and Turkey together will squeeze France and it could end up an English/Turkey fight.
Then when in a strong position Turkey voted DRAW which made no sense, then France voted DRAW. I was enjoying the game and even though people voted DRAW everybody was still knocking chunks out of each other and nobody CD'ed so I thought Game On, if they had turned on me I would have drawn immediately but they just kept fighting as normal so I did as well.
I fought back after France got into England and I turned my attentions on him and startled to whittle away his SCs in the North, Russia also come back to life for some reason after support/holding for several years, then Turkey plucked up courage and started really laying into France also so he was crumbling.
Meanwhile I was forming a stalemate line that meant Turkey could only get 17 units and I had clicked DRAW when Turkey jumped to 13 or15 SCs, by this time Turkey had removed their DRAW vote.
I backed off from fighting Russia lettiing him what grab a couple of SCs that I hoped he would use either to attack Turkey or help with the stalemate line but he started attacking me so I thought noob !!
Poor old Dopey (France) did in this game exactly what he did the other night, saw someone soloing and went the other way, and then when I was supporting him against Turkey he was making random moves and seemed oblivious to the concept of the DRAW so I realise we were doomed, I had mistaken France for a top player but when I saw his failure to form a stalemate line I realised he was not as good as I thought, he didn't seem to have an End Game so although he got to 13 SCs at one stage (and then removed his DRAW vote) I always thought I had a chance against him.
I'm really pleased we eventually got a result after a long game and I'm pleased Turkey got his 1st win.
The thing that made the game so good was that no-one CD'ed and everyone (apart from Russia in the middle bit) fought hard all the way through.
Dopey played well and if he had a decent End Game he could have won but seemed to run out of ideas. Once he ran away from Turkey and let Russia get behind his defences he was doomed......
We did take out a couple of useful gunboaters along the way which made it even more fun (The Czech & CSteinhardt.
Please feel free to correct/challenge/question any of this mindless drivel/
cheers

Yeah France could have moved Paris and we had a 17-17 but OH WELL. I'm genuinely happier that England didn't get any points.

That's because you're a really intelligent person who says really clever things ........
My internet disconnected at one point and caused me to NMR. Then it was past midnight and I normally wake up at 3:00 AM for work so I threw the game out of exhaustion. It would have ended a lot sooner if England had just voted for a draw.
Also, my offensive against Turkey and England at the end was terrible. I had meant to convoy to Tuscany at one point but moved to Naples instead, which failed of course.

Well you shouldn't judge people's intelligence on how they spell when they are relaxing playing a game. Grammar has its place but if you are relaxing then there is no point in grammar.
