Diablo...is making me sad....
....much like fiber. Wife (bless her sexy daned heart!) bought me Diablo for Father's Day. I've gotten it to run *once*. Mostly, the loader loads, I hit "Play" and then....the great void...nothingness...no game. Sadness. Despair. Horrifying discontent. Anyone experience the same? Please advise.

Finally Got My Hands on Boston
I'm not all that sure of what the general musical tastes are on this site. I've seen some very varied responses in threads of old, but I was kind of wondering how many of you still listen to bands like Styx, Cream, or any of those dozens of other bands that will take a very long time to die out of popularity...

This was the BIGGEST bullshit game I've played in. As soon as I showed up, England announced to me that he would be promptly CDing at 12 AM (~45 minutes in the future). Russia CDed. Austria wasn't doing well, so decided to try and lose as fast as he could. AND NO ONE THOUGHT THIS TO BE WRONG! What a joke.

here are some opinions i have of how each one played:

England (cspekier) well played. Without Russia helping me into Liverpool, and Germany attacking Scandnavia, I probably would've lost

Germany(seth24c): Well played! Though moving to the North Altantic really gave me a scare :p

Russia (Akarksi Ali): Not much to say depsite that you were lucky to get in that draw. Did you plan helping me take down England before you died simply to avenge yourself?

Italy (benguy): stupid resigner

Austria (Arya): nothing comes to mind
Askari Ali (539 D)

Enjoyed that game. I had hoped to move on Turkey at the outset but England put the end to that plan by moving on St Peterburg. Luckily I fonud myself able to retreat to Norwegian Sea. At that point it was a choice between disbanding a unit in the south or the one in Norwegian Sea. I thought "fuck it I'll just screw Englands game up" and chose to keep the fleet in norwegian sea. fortunately he'd left himself poorly defended which meant I could help France into Liverpool and Take Edinburgh for myself which helped secure my place in the draw as the easternmost portion of the stalemate line.

"Russia (Akarksi Ali): Not much to say depsite that you were lucky to get in that draw."

I was waiting for you to take him out before voting draw - it was obvious I would not win. But I could see that you were not going to bother so I voted draw with Russia included.
Fortress Door (1837 D)

figured that was why you did that :p.
Askari Ali (539 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
Fortress you're doing me a disservice. I was attacked by Turkey and England at the outset, and managed to survive by helping defeat England and making myself indispensable in setting up the stalemate line. I wasn't "lucky to get in that draw", I earned it.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
17 Jun 12 UTC
Well, then why not take him out yourself?
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
@Askari

true, it was very amazing you survived that game. You did very much that game.

and, i must admit, i had no idea i was setting up a statlemate line (if i was). i was trying to make gains against Turkey. Not stop him
Fortress Door (1837 D)

@Sargmacher

because i get a bit worried when people reach about 10-11 centers. I was actually thinking about leaving you alone to stab Germany once you were no longer the only threat
Askari Ali (539 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
Stabbing Germany would have been as good as handing the solo win to Turkey. It would have been a very silly move indeed.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
that is why i chose not to do it :p. Though if Germany went for Liverpool from the North Antantic (like i thought he would) i would've struck back
Askari Ali (539 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
Depends on his motives. He took Edinburgh from me but I knew that was because my fleet was doing nothing, and by disbanding it he could then build an army in Berlin or Munich to help the stalemate line.
seth24c (5659 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
that would have been one of the worst possible decisions a diplomacy player could make. it was obvious i was playing for i draw.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
well, i couldn't see any reason for me needing to disband anything. All of my units were doing something (Tunis was waiting for me to get a postion firm enough in the med to convoy onto the peninsula)
Sargmacher (0 DX)
17 Jun 12 UTC
Lol, I wasn't suggesting Germany or France attack each other. I just wanted Germany to take out Russia with me. It was clear France and Germany were in a strong enough position to not let Turkey win. There was no point for Russia to be there.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
btw, Seth, WHY did you move to the North Atlantic? I was clear i didn't need support moving to the Mid-Atlantic..
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
i wanted Russia in that draw. He was very important in allowing me to get into Liverpool causing England to fall faster. Or else, you probably would've gone for the solo
Askari Ali (539 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
You were already at 12 SCs. If I was defeated chances are you'd have gotten 2 of my 3 SCs which would have put you on 15 and given the highly unstable nature of the frontline in Italy it would have been too much of a gamble if I was Germany.

England was destroyed in 1906. You had three years where Russia was unnecessary.

@Askari: Well, that's just incorrect. I would never have taken St Petersburg. Germany had me well contained.
Askari Ali (539 D)

Fortress Door (1837 D)

@Seth24c

when you first moved there i had a heart attack :p. I thought you might just go for Liverpool

you would've gotten Moscow and Warsaw, which still might have been a solo threat

Exactly. You are making no point.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

No worries. If you thought I would have been a solo threat stalemated at 14-15 centers, that is your choice.

I just wondered why, that's all, and I got my answer. :)
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
if you consider it from my point of view, it makes perfect sense.

I am not a good player. Simple as that. The win i have on my record is only because i had an ally who would not fight me. Most of the draws come from cd'ers. If I was to keep fighting you in the Med, i would've lost. Simple as that. I would've messed up somewhere, and the solo would have come
Askari Ali (539 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
You wouldn't have been stalemated at 14-15 SCs. That's the point. The frontline in Italy wasn't even close to being stalemated. It was a mess and you could quite easily have overcome France. There was no telling to be honest so Germany made the correct decision in choosing to have me continue to hold the line.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
17 Jun 12 UTC
@FD: I totally agree. There was nothing you could have done. The onus was on Germany to take out Russia.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
17 Jun 12 UTC
"The frontline in Italy wasn't even close to being stalemated"

That is rubbish. France had 3 fleets in the south and I did not have Tunis. I would not have been able break through.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
17 Jun 12 UTC
yes. I was surviving by luck in the Med. You would've overpowered me in probably about 3-4 years and would've soloed
Fortress Door (1837 D)

but Tunis was an army. It can't really do much....

My game was interesting. I got the jump on Russia and then couldn't decide on what to do with respect to Germany/France. I have had bad luck just jumping in on someone when in the western three, as then it seems the third person almost invariably takes the side of the other other guy and I get smashed. In this one I waited a played nice for a turn, and didn't attack Germany. But that didn't work either! France attacked me, and I got the jump on him pretty well by slipping into the Channel, but still Germany ganged up on me. Rats. Maybe next time I'll just attack the person I've got the best shot at (in this game, it would have been Germany).

Comments:

in all fairness, i was moving to the Channel to perpare a strike on Belgium, since i was sure he was going to stab me. He didn't, and i knew that ticked you off, so i made the best of it by attacking you

Kind of an accidental attack :p
