The original reason was that it would place too much demand on the old server. Although, now that we have the new server, it may be possible.

Ah, i hadn't thought about server demands. i don't really know anything about that, so this is me smiling blankly and nodding ; )

The other thing, is with the forum, how come we just have the one long list of threads? There are lots of free forum hosting places where you can get (from what i recall) unlimited space if you allow a banner add, or that only cost a few dollars to get no adds. Would it be much more space to have the organization for the forum than it is to just have things as they are, or is it just that we like it how things are?

There are several reasons for initially having the simple forum:

1) Kestas wanted to keep things simple
2) It's hard to integrate most forums into a sight. For instance, you would need to log into the forum *and* log into the site separately, which would really split the site.

Personally, I like this style. It keeps things fresh and moving and encourages people to make posts that prompt discussion, otherwise they die.

that's fair, but what happens with threads where a few people are into the thread, but they only log on at certain hours? The conversation, which might be a very worthy one, is lost because by the time the next poster is on, the thread has vanished.

So you just check the next page or two after logging on. Has happened to me a few times.

Threads don't vanish. They just move to the next page.

You can bump back threads from 5(?) pages back. we could always increase that number if it became an issue.

One thing i was wondering, the stars are threads you have posted in right?
would there be any way to set a filter or something so that you could have an option to put the active starred threads as having priority over the active non starred?

That would be nice.

What I really want is to be able to pin threads and games to your homepage so you can easily find them.

PM the gameID=xxx or threadID=xxx link to a banned or inactive account.

Falls off after enough game phase updates, but you can also check the notices page to see a longer history.

i seem to remember there being osme way to leave notes to yourself isn't there?

You can leave yourself ingame notes by changing the message url to your country.

Mute the "post last to win" and other uninteresting threads, then you should see more older but interesting threads.
