if you're moving on a coast with an army and there is a fleet adjacent to the begin place and the target you can choose between move via land or via convoy, my question: is there any way it could be better to convoy un such a situation where you can choose??
Has anyone else been having problems with convoys? This is the second turn now where the site keeps giving me ¨Parameter 'toTerrID' set to invalid value '39'.¨ The value changes with the territories, but it won´t let me save any convoy moves. What do I do?!
I've joined a couple of live games and looking for more people... http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=46669 http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=46668
We can then report back here with how playing diplomacy with no secrets influenced our behaviour and we can see if this has any relation to real international relations.
I was thinking about how I have not yet played a public press game and wondering what that would look like, and then I thought about how it may be similar to a world with wikileaks. We will see if I can get enough players to join me.
Honestly I think a better simulation of the world with wikileaks would be something like this.
With every piece of press each player writes is also sent to an outside source. Each turn one piece of press is chosen at random from all the press and posted on global.
And you keep it normal press.
It would simulate the climate of having to watch what you say much better. As you never know what might come to light.
I like damian's idea. However, to better simulate wikileaks you would actually choose what to post. Their is a problem though. Someone within the game would have to post on global. If enough people would like to play that game and if you can find a player to be the poster, I can be the outside source.
I would do that too. It doesn't necessarily have to be completely random either. The outside source could produce a 'newspaper' article combining or editorializing press, and you would not necessarily be sure if it is accurately reported.
so at the end of each season we PM - gman314 - with our correspondence sent to each player and then Gman314 editorializes the information on a dedicated forum.
I think that would be up to you. My suggestion upon thinking it over is send in the entire season worth of press.
As for printing the info may I suggest you stick with essentially summarizing one or two dispatches per season. That way it's not like everything is being editorialized just some of it which ands to the air of wariness
If you guys make a game, I will be willing to receive and publish the press. I would definitely prefer a season at a time to one post at a time. When publishing I will probably summarize choice bits.
May I suggest you don't publish stuff from every power every season. But say only one or two powers. That way the information is a little more sporadic. Less of a summary of press.
joey1: That's an awesome idea! It's a shame that I don't have enough free time to join your game. Or it likes like the game started already. Good luck, guys.
I told several people that the leagues registrations would start last weekend but this being webDiplomacy I found myself compelled to lie. I will start the registrations NEXT weekend after the registrations for the Masters close because TrustMe said it would hurt his brain to have multiple registrations going simultaneously.
In-game, there is a colored banner below the game info and above your country. It almost looks like the country SC banner, but it is different. In all of my games, this banner is different. Does anyone know what this is, or even what I'm talking about?
Hi all Am I missing something on system requirements? When I set up a game or join a new game I just see a plain empty board with no icons, buttons, etc etc. Can't see any tech help/support on the site, so pointers would be appreciated. Using Firefox 3.6.13. Thanks
Am assuming this is the way we help ourselves to finding new players if we're new round here. Just want to test out controls as have never played online. Not very experienced Diplomacy player, but can hopefully manage. gameID=46515
Some games have a password, and I understand why. But if there's a game where a player has left, and I want to take over his NMR'd Power, how does one get in without the password?
I'm new to webDiplomacy, so I may be mistaken, but I saw something in the game I'm playing - my 1st on this site - that struck me as odd. The game is set to No in-game messaging, but one country supported the move of another's army to capture a province. How can this happen without outside communication, which the rules states you're not supposed to do? Any clarification would help. Thank you.
