Why would you...
Why vote for a draw, and then begin acting out revenge games on the only people able to hold the line against Turkey. In a winner take all you get NOTHING france, NOTHING. If its a personal fued, you should have settled it and not been sittin there hoping for a draw. If you want a draw, play for a draw, if you want to lose and get nothing for the hours you spent playing, then attack the only people with a chance to stop the super power. gameID=87585

THIS Is Awful...Autistic Kid Bullied to Tears By School Staff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfkscHt96R0&feature=player_embedded

I'm sorry, but that's just awful...thankfully one of those involved was fired, but another was just reassigned, and still gets to teach--that's just despicable, treating any kid like that as a teacher's just inexcusable, but what sort of creep bullies an autistic kid to tears like that?

This is one for the ages. I am partially guilty, as I NMR my first turn, but wow everything after. For years everyone had a cancel up, except for Germany, Russia, and Austria. Then France misses a whole year, comes back, then NMRs for years. Russia CDs in 1906, and once Austria gets down to 1 unit he puts up a draw vote. So we are down to Turkey, Germany, and Italy. And Germany won't draw.
DILK (1539 D)

Then France and England join (who joins as a 1 SC nation in 1909?)Now Turkey promptly pulls his draw/cancel vote and I know he will solo.As soon as I see that England is moving on me I know Turkey will solo, so I speed things up and evacuate from my Turkish border. Being in a shit game for 3 hours is far too long.

Nice solo Turkey! Truly your tactical acumen brought you the victory.

DILK, you'd have been more use if you did the opposite and moved everything against Turkey. But never mind. Not that I invested much.

You stabbed at Brest then MAO. I was holding Turkey off for years, with no help from anyone
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))

I didn't pull the draw/cancel because France and England rejoined. My policy on this stuff is that if there's an NMR that badly affects the game, I'll put up draw/cancel, leave it there for a few years, and then if the game has decided to play on, then I'll pull it, because that means some players were unwilling to draw/cancel when they thought they could profit but become willing to when it becomes clear they won't really profit, and to me, that's unreasonable.

I draw/cancel because it's not a proper game, not for benefit; I cancelled a game tonight in an excellent early position, and I've put up draw/cancel in bad positions, too. Once Germany made it clear that he was unwilling to draw/cancel because he thought he could jump on England and Russia (and I gave him about 6 game years to make that decision), I wasn't going to accept a draw that included Germany unless it was earned over the board.

Germany was obviously mentally disabled.

I realize that's a tough position to be in as another power who's playing responsibly, so I'm open to suggestions on better ways to handle it.

Perhaps some of the more experienced players on the site can answer this:

A power NMRs early in a way that imbalances the game. How long do you leave up draw/cancel before deciding to play on? Does your answer depend upon whether it's a power that borders you or one that doesn't? (In this case, it was first France/England, and then later Russia; as Turkey, I was at a major disadvantage for the first two because I was trying to fight an Italian getting free builds, followed by a major advantage for the last one because I was getting free builds that Italy couldn't).

[By the way, even without England moving on you, the turn you moved away from me I was set to gain territory; once that fleet got to Albania, it was a 50/50 guess, with no harm to me if I guess wrong, so eventually I gain Trieste and then the Ionian. I never get Tunis without England attacking you, but you didn't actually have a line; what you had was a seven unit defensive position that holds against seven but not eight, and in which I felt it was more productive to tie all of those up and use my remaining units elsewhere rather than press the attack. Either way, though, it's not a solo unless I get past Munich.]

I am not claiming to be an "experienced" player, but my opinion on this is that if there is a CD in the first year, then you cancel/draw the game. CD for CD if you will.
I cancel/draw WHENEVER there is a cd power in the first couple of years. I only take it down after a few in-game years.

In late game, if a power whose position has significance effect on the outcome of the game CDed, then I will put up the draw as it is unfair to win a WTA just because someone CDed. If that power has little chance to affect the outcome, then I will keep playing.

I know a few players such as PE, Sarg, and TheCzech would agree with the general sentiment, but there are those like SplitDiplomat would would keep on playing especially when it benefits him the most.

This is a question more for an Admin.
I teach History for a High School. We play this game on the old board games. I know you get banned for multi accounts, but if you use the accounts for School purpose for only school purpose. Each team will have there own personal group, but will be run by me as the teacher. The computer is much faster to work then using paper.

One for you, the rest for me - sitter wanted please
Hi - i need to get out of the game I'm playing. I doubt that I'll be able to re-join anytime soon so I'm looking for someone to take over to completion. I've no idea (other than the suggestion to ask for a sitter) of how to do this. The game is a 3 day turnaround - and I'm playing Germany. Can someone help?
