Extortion
So, do you think extortion can work as a tactic in Diplomacy? If so, in what circumstances?

Personally I don't think it'll work unless they're on their last legs, and even then only if you phrase it as "do this, and I'll keep you alive" type thing.

CD confusion
Say there is an anonymous game, and in it a player CD's. someone then takes over that nation, and the game ends, and reveals 1 players name. I am assuming that that is the latter players name, is there anyway to find out the player who CD'ed's name?

5 way draw. Not a brilliant end for a good quality game, but I can't complain as I was in a bad position.

Obama Lashes Back At The GOP--Accidentally Leaked!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theticket/20110415/ts_yblog_theticket/obama-caught-on-audio-slamming-gop

And I'd be lying if I didn't respond to that by saying--even if that WAS unintentionally leaked...ITS ABOUT TIME he lashed out like this and showed some fire to match the GOP's rhetoric!

Diplomacy’s ‘Internal Game Programming’
Why is it that part of Diplomacy’s ‘internal game programming’ doesn’t consists of language that if it should be that not every player puts in orders for Spring 1901 the game is auto cancelled?

Those of you in that game. I really have to go, a situation has come up that requires my undivided attention. Can we draw, cancel, pause or whatever the hell you want to do, but I need to leave NOW. My vote for a draw or cancel will remain there. But this needs to be resolved right now.

Game statistics
Does this site keep statistics of all the games that are played? For example, what percentage of games are won by each country, percentage of draws, etc.? It would be interesting info to have.

This is something that really confused me...
Ok, so in this game, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=21#gamePane, there was someone that won the game and the pot was fairly small, but for some reason, the winner won like 700 D, does anyone have an explanation?

Resigning could mean winning?
I've got a question. We're playing a game in which there's only three of us still alive. But one has already resigned so I was talking with the other player in order to settle a draw between me and him so my question is.....is the one who has resigned going to share the win with us (as before resigning he was smart enough to hit the draw button)? Because, as it is said in the rules, the draw means that the win is shared among ALL the survivors.

Why cant ukrain support moscow in world dip?
Never quite understood why a fleet in ukr cant support a hold or move in moscow, any reason why this is so?
WhiteSammy (132 D)

might want to try moving from Ukraine instead...
support hold is the problem

Maybe cos Moscow is inland? It's a bit like saying why can't fleet Berlin support army munich to hold in the standard game lol
moscow is on the black sea in the game
WhiteSammy (132 D)

"support hold is the problem"

My point exactly...how did you get a fleet to Ukraine?

You're right Santa- so there's a bug. Damn- I'm Russia in one of those games;(
Geofram (130 D(B))
14 Apr 11 UTC
But from the WorldDip map, Both Ukraine and Moscow touch the Black Sea. Santa, does your fleet in Ukraine have the option of moving to Moscow? If not, the map needs to be redrawn!
Sydney City (0 DX)
14 Apr 11 UTC
Don't think there's an option to build a fleet in Mos either
actually I believe there is or at least i have been told so...

but no there is no option to move to Moscow
holloway (509 D)
14 Apr 11 UTC
You get it through the black Sea (via Turkey) just tried to SH an army in the Ukraine, and that does work. donnu why a fleet should be a problem!
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
14 Apr 11 UTC
It should be possible. Sounds like a bug to me. You should take it up on http://forum.webdiplomacy.net/ under the bug section.
yeah holloway, it works the other way around from moscow to ukraine but not ukraine to moscow, this actually happened to me before but i didnt take notice
I dont want to make an account, if someone goes over there often feel free to post it
Vaftrudner (2533 D)
14 Apr 11 UTC
And by the way, as far as Moscow being coastal, I haven't played Russia myself yet, but I have seen fleets built in Moscow.
Geofram (130 D(B))
14 Apr 11 UTC
It seems like the real issue either being that the map is just drawn poorly to show Moscow touching the Black Sea when it shouldn't, or that Moscow is incorrectly coded to only accept armies on it.
nah, moscow can build navies, so thats not the issue, looks like ukraine might just be cut off from moscow
Geofram (130 D(B))
14 Apr 11 UTC
So fleets can be built in Moscow but a fleet in Ukraine can't move to Moscow?
yeah basically, maybe fleets just cant move into moscow?
Victorious (768 D)
14 Apr 11 UTC
i encountered the same isseu a few months ago. The strange part was i could move a fleet from Ukraine to Poland. I reported it at the forum and maybe the problem is partly fixed, the fleet connection between Ukraine and poland disabeled, but not fixed between Ukraine and Moscow.
WhiteSammy (132 D)
14 Apr 11 UTC
Considering how relatively insignificant the Black Sea area is compared to other water ways in World Dip it is entirely believable to me that the lone action of supporting a hold with a fleet(which in many cases would never set sail in the black sea) from Ukraine to Moscow may have been overlooked in coding.
