Feb '11 GR Challenge Game Status

Where are they now? The thread to sign up was bumped for weeks, but since they started, I haven't heard much. I looked through old forum posts and couldn't find the links. Did anyone save the links to those games? Would be interesting to check on their progress...

Solos of respective countries when games are modified by CD

I have a hypothesis, but I don't have the data to prove it. I'm hoping someone who would be interested in combing through the database can help me.

My hypothesis is this: When a country CD's (Any country) England and Turkey do disproportionately better than other countries because they are in a position to take advantage without exposing themselves so much.

There is no messaging & no press.
Yet it is showing an envelope & saying unread message.

looking for a new player in "Beginners World"

a player from our game "Beginners World" was banned - it's frozen antartica with a very good position and therefore big impact on the game if it would be left alone now ... would be a pity if we couldn't find a new player ...

Bonjour! J'apprends français depuis trois ans et je voudrais bien crée une partie de Diplomacy avec des autres qui l'apprennent aussi. Comme ça, on pourra améliorer notre langue en s'amusant! The First American Civil War

I read an interssting piece in this week's New York Review of Books about the War of American Independance. The article drew attention to the large proportion (albeit a minority although substantial) of colonists who remained loyal to the crown. Indeed it went on to point out that preservation of the 'peculiar institution' was a significant motive lying behind behind much of the 'American' effort.

for example, this is gunboat right? would you say france and germany are just great friends? if you check their accounts. new. one of them was made today. its a bit sketchy to think its coincidence that these players worked so damn well in gunboat! (i have yet to have that luck).

of course i might be thinking too much. i just cant help but notice the perfect coordinations between them. anyways, no offense intended, but i do want to bring to light the potential frauds that exist within our community.

This stuff is rampant here. I've had a number of games now where I've felt this kind of stuff goes on. And one person who I reported has rejoined the site and even sent me a message telling me that he joined and the moderators can't stop him. It's ridiculous.

Yeah it sucks. And there are not enough clean players to make games without risking this sort of stuff.

The WebDiplomacy Golden Record!

Well, somewhere, in the depths of space, Voyager 1 is floating around...and when it's found someday, by, I don't know, Zaphod Beeblebrox's race--hey, it's not impossible, just highly improbable!--they're find the famous Man/Woman (Adamn/Eve?) Plaque, along with the Golden Record inside...Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, and...Chuck Berry?! ;) So: a musical piece, a spoken word (ie, book) piece, and a third, whichever you want--let's compile the WebDipl Golden Record!

Improve Everywhere

They are by far the most humorous gathering of people on the planet that function off of stupid and silly humor. They do not need to be crude or rude to make people laugh, although sometimes they exploit idiots. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvBbVA36y1U.
