I do better in live games with press than in the gunboat ones. Of course, I've lost every gunboat I've played here, live or not, so that's not saying much. At this point, I guess I've played enough games that I can analyze most positions in a few seconds, although I might spend a minute on something tricky. (Obviously, I'll take time to consider the strategy more deeply in a normal game, but I just have to go with my gut feelings in live games). As for press, I type quickly enough that most turns, I say something to most of the other players, and I try to exchange several messages with each of my neighbors (assuming that they're talking to me at the moment). So my advice, I guess, is to play 100+ games, GM another 200 or so, type quickly, and you'll be set?
