A New Site Feature
I know less than nothing about how this would have to be implemented, so feel free to ignore this. Would it be possible to add a feature that allows people to "follow" games that they aren't in?

Coming out....
Of retirement. Havent played a game in about 5 months, and have been spoiled by high quality play for to long to be satisfied by a random game.

Looking for 6 other good, reliable players who send a lot of press. Who wants in!?

NFL Pick 'em: Week 6--Can the Giants Get A Win? Should the 'skins Change Their Name?
We start Week 6 with a game that looked a LOT better before the season started, the Giants and the Cowboys. The Cowboys and Redskins play on Sunday Night, an always-fun match-up (what do you think about the Redskin name, by the way, change it or no?) and there are plenty of interesting games with the Pack and Ravens going at it, the Saints and Patriots going head-to-head, and more. So, Week 6, here we go...PICK 'EM!

Are you a fuloughed US employee? Do you like free stuff?
Apparently GOG is giving away free video games to anyone who sends them an email with a picture of them, and their furlough notice. I remember some people complaining on this forum about being furloughed by don't remember who. So public notice y'all. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/128554-GOG-Offers-Free-Games-to-Furloughed-U-S-Employees

Nobel Peace Prize Continues to be a joke

How can you give the peace prize to a chemical weapons watchdog the year chemical weapons are used in war? They had one job.

@Botox - Moron....seriously, you are a moron. You didn't say that option #4 ends the bullying behavior -- you simply stated that it spreads the bully's behavior to others. Thank you for making my point. IN the same manner, aggressive nations go to one country, take what they want, and when no nation rises to the defense, they understand they have open season on the next nation.

Again, Bo - you seem a nice kid, but your ability to understand history, your ability to comprehend human behavior, etc is woefully inadequate.

You point to N Korea and an example of a nation that, if ignored, will simply ceased to become a problem. Funny, because we have pretty much ignored North Korea for decades. There is no active engagement with them, there is no military intervention with them, and the result is that they rattle the sabre on occassion, and they produce and test nuclear weapons against the wishes of the entire globe, and they threaten war....and worst of all, they have a population that suffers from startvation and oppression. Yeah....that's working great. A militaristic nation that threatens war, and now has nuclear technology to sell of the highest bidder, be it terrorist state of not

But then you say force works for the purposed of a case like Syria or Iran....but that's funny, becuse without the threat of real military action, sanctions are meaningless....so you admit that having a strong, viable military is a necessity.

So you can't have it both ways, Bo-ster....you can't say we should disarm and just sing a happy song and hold hands and suddenly the world will be at peace while at the same time you admit the need for force.

You are a smart kid Bo - it's evident -- but you really seem to have no consistency in logic/philosophy when you start discussing individual issues.

As for Putin....<yawn....> How many did you heroes in the Soviet Union kill OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE? Putin, you don't have the slightest clue about much of anything, seemingly least of all the history of the nation you most admire. But it's funny for you to reference school yard/kindergarten tactics, since you are the king of childish behavior and verbal bullying -- after all, every time you express an opinion, it is another lie, another twist, often a contradiction of your own statements elsewhere....which is exactly how a child behaves.

"since you are the king of childish behavior and verbal bullying"

You forgot to add "shit sucker".
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Oct 13 UTC
Krellin, you seem to be twisting my post to imply that I don't favor having a military when the fact is that I simply don't think we need nuclear weapons and that's really all I've said worth discussing. But please, don't say that the military needs everything we give them right now. The military will tell you that; you don't need me to say it.
Draugnar (0 DX)

True, we could have never had nuclear weapons. Do svidanya, comrade bo_sox. The tongue of Mother Russia would be our tongue if we didn't have them.

Not if after World War II, when we realized just how destructive they were, we put restrictions on their production.
Draugnar (0 DX)

You are truly naïve. Once the Genie is out of the bottle, you can't put it back in and do you really think the former Soviet Union would have given a fuck about "restrictions on their production"? I was in high school in the 80s. I remember the cold war. You don't. Just look at the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan to see how aggressive the Soviet Union was.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

"I remember the cold war."

It must have been just terrorizing to watch your government and another government across the ocean quibble at each other like three-year-olds for 40 years.

"Just look at the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan to see how aggressive the Soviet Union was."

This Afghanistan? http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/09/17/article-2204305-150CAB56000005DC-942_634x453.jpg

You mean the Soviet Union that came to several agreements about reducing nukes (SALT) only to have it all shot to hell by Carter & Reagan?

Afghanistan was at least a neighbor. What were those "non-aggressive" Americans doing in Vietnam and Korea again?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Oct 13 UTC
Lol Putin... how many countries in Europe and Asia *weren't* neighbors of the Soviet Union at some point?
Putin33 (111 D)
13 Oct 13 UTC
So the USSR had many more security threats than the blokes hiding between two oceans. Your point?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Oct 13 UTC
The United States, rightly or wrongly, considered the Soviet Union a security threat. The war wasn't taking place in North America and the USA only has two neighbors, you know. The fact that we didn't invade Mexico or Canada in order to fortify our defenses doesn't really prove anything. At all.
Invictus (240 D)

No, he's definitely an American. Sad that someone who's reaped all the benefits of liberal democracy and a market economy can still fall for the nonsense he believes, but true.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
13 Oct 13 UTC
Some Americans have been outside the USA, ILN. Just because Putin has been to a socialist country doesn't mean he isn't from the USA.
Putin33 (111 D)
13 Oct 13 UTC
I think ILN forgets that he's asked me whether I've been to a socialist country about 5 times now (actually I think his question is verbatim what he posted a while back). I've been to China (six months) and the former Yugoslavia (three months). Those are the only two foreign countries I have visited, aside from a weekend trip to Montreal.

"Sad that someone who's reaped all the benefits of liberal democracy and a market economy can still fall for the nonsense he believes, but true."

Indeed, concern for those being bombed by Uncle Sam is just unfathomably ridiculous, as is anything but enthusiastic support for being one of the few industrialized countries with large-scale poverty. I should go back to reading Invictus's 5th grade history books and his Cliff Notes of Road to Serfdom. That will educate me.

Here is the big finish......
"There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord's blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal."

Vladimir V. Putin is the president of Russia.

Shoddy Peer Review in Open Access Journals
As reported in Science (http://www.sciencemag.org/content/342/6154/60.full):
Open Access Journals may be more likely to accept suspect papers (as they are paid by the authors) as demonstrated by Bohannon, who submitted a clearly false paper to several hundred journals, to be rejected by less than half.

A Nobel in Two Pages
Physical Review is making available for free the papers that won the Physics Nobel Prizes this year (for the prediction of the Higgs boson). One of them is two pages, and the other is three. That's not so uncommon in physics, but it's still remarkable how tersely a great idea can be communicated. Here is the link for the interested:

Yes, we can service our debt and not default on our credit without raising the debt ceiling. Just like YOU, the individual, can prioritize your spending at home (say, cancel cable when money gets tight)...so can the Fed. QUIT LYING OBAMA AND ALL YOU LIBTARDS!
