I have T-Mobile, but I also live in my parents' cellphone-basement, so I can't say all that much about their customer service other than that they gave us free phones for no apparent reason and I've never heard my parents complaining about it. The reception, however, is pretty terrible. I don't get consistent 4G at home, and I'm only just now starting to get consistent regular reception around my house. AT&T, on the other hand, has great reception in my area, though that may just be because their CEO lives pretty close.

Anyway, abge, I have no experience with T-Mobile, but I do use AT&T, like you. I'm surprised you dislike their coverage. True, it completely sucks in rural mountainous areas. But overall, I've found it to be pretty good nationwide. (Of course, I don't have a smart phone, so I can't comment on data, which is perhaps the difference).

I say this not to contradict you, but to point out that, if your'e moving (I don't know if your new job is in the same place), you may like AT&T better where you're headed.

T-mobile has better customer service and will work with you more If an issue arises. AT&T has more options in terms of plans, phones, etc and generally has better coverage.

All things being equal, look for coverage, coverage, coverage. All of the customer service in the world won't help if you don't have consistent service.

ATT coverage isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. The bigger problem is that their prices are completely outrageous for what they offer.

I buy my phones directly from Google. I will never buy a carrier phone again.

Also, by "customer service" I'm referring to underhanded business practices that ATT is consistently guilty of. Some examples include data throttling, arbitrarily disabling apps, and increasing fees without warning.

But if you are at work and don't have coverage...not that I am in THAT predicament...it gets pretty frustrating.

I travel within the United States frequently, all over the place. My colleagues and I find that Verizon consistently gives the best coverage nationwide in a variety of places. So, I use Verizon and I'm very happy with it. People I know used AT&T only when it was the only way to do iPhone. I don't know anyone who uses T-Mobile.

Yeah, I know Verizon's coverage is unbeatable, but I really don't want to go back to a carrier phone.

What good is your non-carrier phone if you can't get consistent coverage? That's a sweet looking paperweight. Excuse me while I take this call.

lol yeah I get it. If it doesn't seem like T-Mobile will cut it, I'll stick with ATT.
