Primer
Watching Primer again for about the 5th time. Still not sure I understand it completely. If you like time travel or movies that really make you think, I'd highly recommend Primer.

What's the best game you've ever played on webdip and why?

This game had the weirdest opening year I've ever seen and was an awesome group of players. I value that draw over any of my solo's

Can you explain what's happening in that game? I can piece together some but not all of it.

I would have to say gameID=55581 and gameID=60765 were the most epic games I have yet played on this site. That said, gameID=93086 is coming awfully close to topping them.

what specifically would you like me to explain?

When you say it's a weird opening, what makes it particularly weird?
MKECharlie (2074 D(G))

That's a weird opening because E, F, and G all opened in spring '01 with aggressive moves against another power, and none of them have to.
And I/A had an odd opening as well.

The French opening makes no sense to me. It's way too over extended. If he was going for three builds he should have gone after Belgium.

I would guess that he sniffed out the attack on him and thought that it would be I/E/G. In that case, bouncing Italy out of Piedmont would have guaranteed him a build as well as likely convincing Italy to not attack at all.
uclabb (589 D)

Actually, I guess it is a little worse than that. I think one has to assume that he thought he was ok in Burgundy.

Russia was the only person with a semi normal opening. Turkey taking Serbia in the first year is rare and having Italy's support from Trieste makes it all the stranger. Italy taking Trieste the opening turn is beyond bold. Austria taking Munich is beyond strange and almost never happens, even in end game situations it is rare. France losing Paris to Germany and Brest to England while in Piedmont attacking Venice and still staying at 3 centers is completely unique as far I've seen. Russia getting an unopposed 6 centers is uncommon too.

What makes it hilarious is the amazing players in that game. Slyster immediately had amazing position for the rest of the game since he had a weakened France to attack and Germany was stuck moving to retake Munich. I had my choice of Italy or Austria as an ally, and Cachimbo had 6 centers and was the only person who hadn't attacked anyone, which arguably gave him the best position on the board.

Keep in mind France is either the second best or best player on the site for press games and Italy is either the best or second best. The rest of us were top 5-50.

Sci Fi / Virtual Reality /Nano Stuff
Just read a sample download of "Ready Player One"...looking for a good sci-fi pub. Seeking modern sci-fi, virtual reality, but not old William Gibson crap. Let's talk sci-fi, peeps. (fyi: As a writer, I'm fascinated by the whole nano/embedded computer system stuff...it's what I'm writing about.)

noob questions
I'm fairly new here and figured out most things. Having played diplomacy before helped, but I've got a couple of questions that I don't find answers to in the FAQ's.

Its time for a Webdiplomacy app
I think the time has come for a webdip app. Honestly, this is my favorite website, and it would make it a lot easier for many people to have this site as an app. Preferably compatible for both Apple and Android

So I finally installed adblock
I just wanted to say that I think the internet looks incredibly weird without ads. I don't like the change and I am thinking of reverting back.

Thoughts?

Portuguese skeptic, Francisco Sanches (1551-1623), from "That Nothing is Known"
Enjoy this excerpt. I transcribed it out of a philosophy textbook a few years ago. Since then it has been one of my favorites. I should note that I actually do agree, yes. I do not think true knowledge is possible.

I would like to thank all the people who create serious threads and all the trolls who destroy threads. You seriously give me hours of amusement. That is of course, if I actually cared to read all of them.

I don't know, but I felt like starting a thread about my favourite animals of the Mesozoic era, especially because they're bringing Jurassic Park back to the big screen.

Infertility in Gay Marriage
Since this forum seems generally agreeable to Gay Marriage under the concept of equal protection...should gay couples also be covered and treated for Infertility - the inability to have children, just as a heterosexual married couple?
